The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,_ met 11 in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City Friday, February 1, 1952, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock a.'m. Mr. Coleman presid- ing with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: • On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. On motion made by Mr. Hodgin, seconded by Mr. Haworth and unanimously carried the Board accepted the bid of the. Reynard Plumbing Company to install a boiler in #2 Hose House. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board accepted the resig- nation of patrolman Myron L. Simpson from the Police Department effective February 1, 1952. Mr. Simpson emphasized the fact that his resignation is due to outside reasons and his association with the Police Depart- ment is one which will always be remembered. The Chief of Police brought to the attention of the Board the need of prohibiting parking on the east side of South 18th Street, from South "A" Street to South "B" Street. This was placed in the hands of the Traffic Division to study and recomend. The Clerk was authorized to prepare a Declaratory Resolution for the - appointment of appraisers to appraise two police cars that are to be used for trade-in on two new police cruisers. On recommendation of the Mayor, the Board employed the services of Mr. William Adler for the maintenance of "parking meters" as of January 28, 1952. Mr. Adler was reported to be in Chicago, Ill. taking a short course on the maintenance of the meters that are now installed in the City. On recommendation of Capt. E. Juerling, the Board approved "No Parking" on both sides of Southwest 5th Street, from Main Street, to the first alley South. There is to be a space left on the east side near the . alley for the Post Office mail box. On recommendation of Capt. E. Juerling, the Board approved, that the traffic light at the intersection of North 12th and J Streets be left in operation as it presently is. On recommendation of Capt. E. Juerling, the Board approved "No Parking" on the east side. of Sheridan Street, from the 20th Century Bridge to Northwest "L" Street. On recommendation of Capt. E. Juerling, the Board. approved 2 hour park- ing limit on Northwest "J" Street, one block east of Sheridan Street on both sides of said Street. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of $ 2, 415.68 . There being no further business presented, on motion made, seconded . 1 2nd and 9th day of January 1952. The proofs were ordered filed. The Board meets at the hour of 10: 00 o' clock a.m. to receive and open IIsealed proposals for the furnishing and installing a boiler for No. 2 Hose House as per specifications on file. The following bids were received and opened. - Niewoehner-Nicklas Company $875. 00 Reynard Company $826. 90 Whitehead Equipment Company $984. 30 Oil Products Company $1, 132.00 The Whitehead Equipment bid was thrown out due to the non-collusion affidavit not being properly signed. The bid of the Oil Products yam- Company was not to be considered as the bid was quoted in for an oil burner and the specification called for coal burning only: The bids ,d''' were referred to the City Engineer and the Fire Chief to study and re- --, commend.
