OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, JANUARY 11, 1952.

The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind-
iana met in regularc:session in its office in the City Hall in said
City, Friday, January 11, 1952, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock a.m.
Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present:
Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with.
On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved that
there be "No Parking" signs installed on the West side of Cross-
hall Street, from N.W. "J" to N.W. "L" Street.
Fire Chief Williams reported that Keith Burdsall had been discharged
from the U. S. Marine Corp. and would return to active duty on the
Fire Department as of January 16th, 1952. This will release Ray
Kinder, Jr. on furlough from the Department until an opening occurs.
On motion made, seconded and carried, the Board rejected the bid
of John Behnen proposal to leade the Market House for the year 1952
for the sum of 025.00 as submitted.
On motion made by Haworth, seconded'by Hodgin and on voice vote
unanmously carried, the Board accepted the bid of the Wickett
Motor Service bid to furnish the Police Dept. with a 1952 Packard
2 door sedan as follows:

Less Taxes 0 188. 00

The Clerk presented the appraisers value as set by appraisers ap-
pointed by the Wayne Circuit Court Judge to be :050.00.
The request for the installation of a walk-way on the Iron Bridge
in Happy Hollow was referred to the City Engineer to make further
investigation.
The request ofppinting the curb on N.W. 5th Street in front of the
Standard Grocery was referred to the Traffic Division to study and
make recommendations.
The Board deemed it not necessary to keep the traffic signal on
during the week-ends at North 12th and "G" Streets.
The Board unanimously adopted Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1952
as follows:
DECLARATORY RESOLUTION TO VACATE ALLEY
Declaratory Resolution No. 2-1952,
BE IT RESOLVED: by- the Board of Public Works and Safety of the
City of Richmond, Wayne-County, State of Indiana:
That it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate the alley between the
Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad right-of-way and Lots Numbers 86 to 93 inclusive
in Beallview Addition to said City and extending f-"m South "0" Streets south-
eastwardly to a vacated alley; the alley to be vacated being described as
follows: Beginning at the intersection of the south line of South 0 Street
and the easterly Right-Of-Way Line of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad being
on the southwesterly line of said alley to be vacated and running thence south-
eastwardly, along the southwesterly line of said alley to be vacated, which is
the northeasterly Right-Of-?allay line of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad, to a
vacated alley, thence noith along the northwesterly end of said vacated alley
to the northeastward line, extended southeastwardly, of the said::alley between
the Chesapeeke and Ohio Railroad Right-of-Way and said-Jots N.umb"ers .S6 to 93
•<� BOTH inclusive, thence northwestwardly, along said extension of the northwest-
line and thee eastward line of said alley between the Chesapeeke and Ohio
R ilroad Right-Of-Way and said Lots Numbers 86 to 93 both inclusive to the
south line of South. "OH Street, thence west, along the south line of South
0 Street to the. place of beginning.
That the property whichmay be injuriously affected by the proposed
vacation is known and described as such part of said alley herein proposed
to be vacated and the realestate abutting the same, being the Chesapeake
and Ohio Railroad Company, owner of the Rift-Of-Way abutting on the
son+hwesb Carl R: and Lula M. Keen, owners of Lots Nos, 87 to 91 both
inclusive and part of Lot 92 in Beallview Addition and Emmett W. and
Icea Nr. Parrish, ownersof Lot Number 93 and part of Lot 92 in Beallviww
Addition, all of said lots abutting said alley on the North east.
The clerk was instructed to prepare the publication for a public hearing
to be held on the llth day of February, 1952.
The B and allowed the calims in the amount of $1,629.68.
There being no further business presented on motion made, seconded and
carried, the meeting adjourned.
