The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City Friday, December 7, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haw.or.th.. Te. following business was had, to-wit: On motion made, secoRde.d .and carded, the minutes or the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Board authorized the Clerk to prepare advertising for the -leasing of the Market House for one year. The Board authorized the City Attorney to prepare an Ordinance for the installation of a traffic 0041, at _the intersection of West. 16th and National Road. The State Hig1way Commission sent their = specifications to be followed in the installation. The Board approved the extension of the No Parking on the North side of North B Street, from North 10th Street to North 16th Street. The Board .approved the request of the Chief of Police for the pur- chase of a new car for the Police Department. The Clerk to prepare the resolution asking for three disinterested freeholders to ap- praise the 1947 Oldsmobile to be traded-in. On recommendation of the Mayor and the Chief of Police, the Board pproved the appointment of Eugene Juerling, Sgt. of the Police Department to that of Captain of the Traffic Division as of January 1, 1952. Earl White, member of the Police Department asked that this body give permission to him for a four months leave of absence from the department to attend an Advanced Officers Training School in the U.S. Army without paz. This information has to be given to the Army Officials as of now. Mr. Hodgin moved that the request be granted, seconded by Mr. Haworth and on voice vote was car- ried. Mr. White to present his written request at a later date. The Board approved the plans of the Storm Sewer for the area be- tween Main. Street and National Road, from S.W. 13th Street to S.W. 15th Street, as submitted by Mr. Hodgin. The work to start early in 1952. The Board approved the purchase of a front end loader for the Street Dept. The Clerk to'-prepare the advertising for receiving of bids fory this piece of equipment. On motion made by Hodgin, seconded by Haworth and on voice vote the Board unanimously adopted the following Declaratory Resolution: 157 DECLARATORY RESOLUTION TO VACATE STREET Declaratory Resolution #9-1951. RESOLVED: by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, that it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate a portion of South P Street in the City of Richmond, County of Wayne, State of Indiana, which street proposed to be vacated is more particularly described as follows, to-wit: Being that part of South P Street lying between South 7th Street and South 8th Street and more particularly described as follows: Beginning at the point of intersection of south Line of South P Street with the East Line t7,4 of -South 7th Street, said point being the. Northwest Corner Lot No. -214 of Bealview Addition to the City of Richmond, Indiana: thence ' east, along the South Side of South P Street, Two Hundred Seventy- four - (274.00) feet, more or less, to the West Line of South 8th Street, at the Northweast corner of Lot No. 159 of aforesaid Addition: thence Northeastwardly Sixty-five and Four-tenths (65.4)- feet, more or less to a point in the North Line of South P Street, said point being Twenty-six (26. 00) feet east of the - Southeast Corner of Lot No. 158 of the aforesaid Addition: thence west, along the North Line of South P Street Three Hundred (300. 00) - feet,, more or less to the East Line of South 7th Street, at the Southwest Cornerof Lot No. 213 of the aforesaid Addition; Thence South, along the East Side of South 7th Street Sixty (60) .feet to the place of beginning. The City of Richmond reserves the right to maintain the present Storm Sewer and to construct and maintain a proposed Santitary Sewer in the portion of South P. Street to be herein vacated. All as shown by a plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the Department of the Public Works and Safety of said City. The property which may be injuriously or beneficially affected in the said City of Richmond by said proposed vacation is known and desribed as the street herein proposed to be vacated and the lots abutting on the street and both sides thereof, owned by the Automotive Gear Works, Inc. The Clerk was autorized to prepare the advertising for a public hearing to be held on the above Dec. Res. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of $21,589. 69.
