Works Board of Public and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, October 26, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Morton Rhoades' request for more curb cut on North "A Street was referred to the City Engineer and the Police Department, to check and report their re- commendations to the Board. The Board approved permission for Officer Dan Mitrione of the Police Depart- ment to attend the Traffic School to be held at Indiana University during the week of November 26, 1951. Mrs. Clendenin from the Maxwell Addition appeared before the Board to find out what recommendations the Building Inspector, Mr. Beck, had reported to the Board in reference to the remonstrance filed against one Eugene Battista. Mr. Haworth read the report of the Building Inspector which was dated October 25, 1951. Mr. Beck's investigation showed that he had checked the garage of Mr. Battista at 111 Southwest "F" Street and did not find any automobiles or any noise that would disturb anybody and he issued a permit for a two-car garage. His report stated that he did think to keep in line with our City Zoning Ordinance, Mr. Eugene Battista has a right to a home industry. On motion made by Mr. Haworth, seconded by Mr. Hodgin and unanimously carried, the City Attorney, Mr. Haworth, is to notify Mr. Battista by letter that the work he has been doing in the vicinity of his garage will have to stop immed- iately because it is against the City Zoning Ordinance of Richmond, Indiana. On recommendation of the City Engineer, Mr. Hodgin, the Board approved that the traffic island at South 5th and "G" Streets be removed immediately. A petition for a resolution providing for the construction of a Sanitary Sewer to serve the area of the west side of South 5th Street from South "I" Street to South "L" Street was received. This petition was referred to the City Engineer to prepare a resolution, plans and specifications. The Clerk of the Board presented proofs of publications that on the gth and 15th days of October, 1951, a notice to bidders was published in the Richmond Palladium-Item Newspaper that bids would be received for the construction of a concrete alley between South 13th and 14th Streets from South "G" Street to the South End of the alley; and the construction of a concrete alley between Richmond Avenue and Randolph Street from N.W. 1st to N.W. 2d Streets, and the proofs of publications were received and ordered filed. The Board meets at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A.M. to receive and open bids to do the above work. The following bid was received for the construction of a concrete alley • i4 between South 13th and l4th Streets from South "G" to the South End of alley: Henry Rodenberg, Contractor, Richmond, Indiana, bid of $4,607.00 The City Engineer's estimate being in the sum of $4+,6S9.00 On recommendation of the City Engineer, Mr. Hodgin, the Board approved that the bid of Henry Rodenberg be accepted. The following bid was received for the construction of a concrete alley .�z between Richmond. Avenue and Randolph Street from N.W. 1st to N..W. 2d Streets: • Henry Rodenberg, Contractor, Richmond, Indiana, bid of $2,330.00 �_. The City Engineer's estimate being in the sum of $2,369.00 On recommendation of the City Engineer, Mr. Hodgin, the Board approved that the bid of Henry Rodenberg be accepted. • The Board allowed the claims in the amount of $25,171.19.
