MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE BOARD
OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY
OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, OCTOBER 5, 1951.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City
Friday, October 5, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (cst) . Mr.
Coleman- presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin
and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit:
On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meet-
O ing were dispensed with.
an an Mrs. Richard Olibver abd several parents of school children livingin
;?, the Sutton Addition appeared before the 'Board in regards to a petition
for a traffic light at the intersection of National Road and West 16th
Street. The Board ord.red the Police Department to furnish adequate
police protection at this intersection during the hours of 8:00-8: 30
A.M. , 11:00,-11.:30 A.M. , 12: 30-1:00 P.M. , 3130-4:00 P.M. , until a traffic
light can be placed at said intersection. . The Board ordered the Clerk
to contact. the Light Plant requesting an immediate survey he made as
to what the cost would be to install an over-hanging tyoe traffic light
at said intersection. After the cost is found, that Council be requested
to make a transfer of funds from the "parking meter" Fund for this in-
stallation. •
The Board granted Permission to the Community Fund Chest to place
collars around, the light poles in the business area during their drive.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. 94.6-1951, for
the construction of a " sanitary sewer" in the Bealview Addition. The
Clerk was ordered to prepare the proper advertising for a public hearing
to be held on said resolution on Friday November 2 f_1951, at 10:00 A.M.
and approved-"the -Plans and specifications for -ea-id- Sanitary Sewer.
The City Attorney ruled that this Board couldnot receive bids to do
the work as provided for in Improvement Resolutions Nos. 94.4 and 945
on October 12th, 1951 because that is a legal holiday. The Clerk was
ordered to readvertise for receiving the bids on said resolutions.
Hodgin moved that this Board meet in regular session Thursday, October •
11, 1951 instead of October 12th, 1951, seconded by .Haworth and on voice
vote was unanimously carried.
The Board allowed the claims in the sum of ,$29,4.65.4-3.
There being no further business presented on motion made, seconded and
carried the "meeting adjourned.
