HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-31-1951 30. OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, AUGUST 31,1951. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday,- August 31, 1951, at the hour of 8:00 orclock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had to-wit: - On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meet- ing were approved. - A letter from the State Highway Comma informing the Board that an in— vestigation would be made on the request for a traffic light at the intersection of National Road, East and the Henley Road. A letter from the State Highway Commission was received in regards to the request for a traffic light at the intersection of South 9th and 11L1° Streets. The Commission recommends that civilian guards be used to aid the children to cross the street at dangerous corners where local police are not available. An investigation will be made by the Commission and their report filed with the Board. The Clerk was aurthorized to contact the State Highway Commission in regards to a traffic light installation at West 16th Street and National Road. The Board authorized the Street Commissioner to make the repairs to the sidewalks in front of the Kutter -Store on East Main and in front of the Medical Arts Building on South 8th Street. The Board approved the requests to cut the curbs on South i°L°' Street as requested by Hibberd School and at 1114 West Main Street as requested by Everett Titus.
