OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS
AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, .
AUGUST 24, 1951
The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday,. August 24, 1951, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (cst) . Mr.
Coleman ;presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and
Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, 'to-wit: .
On motion made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the

previous meeting were dispensed with.
The Board unanimously approved the order of the Fire Chief, that the
Chasteen Auto Wrecking Company on Williamsburg Pike be given 60 days
from this date to clean-up the mess around said wrecking lot..
A petition signed by property owners residing on S.W. 13th Street and
S.W. 14th Streets requesting an unimproved alley running from S.W. 14th
Street, east to S.W. 13th (1st alley north of the National Road West) , and
from the middle of said alley north to second alley north of National
Road West. This petition was referred to the City Engineer.
A petition that Councilman Eastman presented requesting the traffic speed
to be reduced on West Main Street , from West 7th Street to West 13th Stree
to 20 or 30 MPII. was presented. On recommendation of the Chief of Police
the Board approved that the Street as designated be marked with signs
that traffic be held. to 30 MPH, and the Street Department erect the signs.
A letter from Mr. "Bill" Miersbach requesting that the !"No Left Turn"
signs at the intersections of East 6th and 7th Streets be removed was
taken under advisement by the Board.
The Board unanimously adopted Improvement Resolution No. . 944-1951, to
improve the alley, between South 13th Street and South 1441. Street,
from South "G" Street to south end of Alley, by construction of a
concrete roadway the full width of said alley in accordance with
the profile, details, drawings and specifications on file in the office
of the Board of Works. The Clerk was ordered to prepare the advertising
for a public hearing on said Improvement Resolution No. 944-1951 to
be held on Friday, Septemeber 14, 151, at 9:00 o' clock A.M. Qcst) .
The Board unanimoulsy adopted Improvement Resolution No, 945-1951, to
improve the alley between Richmond. Avenue and Randolph Street, from
Northwest 1st to Northwest 2nd Street, by construction of a concrete
roadway the full width of said alley in accordance tJith the profile,
details, drawings and specifications on file in the office of the
Board of Public Works and Safety of said City. The Clerk was ordered
to prepare the advertising for a public hearing on said Improvement
Resolution No. 945-1951 to be held on the 14th day of September, 1951,
at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. (cst) .
