The Board of .Public Works and Safety of the City .of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, July 13, 1951, at the hour of 8:00 o' clock A.M. (CST) . Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Hodgin and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion mdae, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meet- , ing 'ere dispensed with. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved the install- ation of "No Parking" signs on both sides of North "A" Street, from North 3rd to North 5th Streets. The recommendation of the Chief of Police to prohbit the parking of cars on the south side of Main Street, from Third to Fourth Streets was taken under advisement. Mr. Burlison, Street Commissioner was authorized to contact Mr. Bert Freeman about what he would charge to remove a part of the Morton Lake Dam by blasting. On motion by Haworth, seconded by Hadgin and carried the Board concurred with the action of the Firmen' s Pension Board to Place Beckwith Stephen- son on the Diability Retirement as of August 1, 1951. The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief, that Roland Miller be advance:d,from the rank of a Lt. to that of a Capt, and Slyvia Stic'co from the rank of a regular fireman to that of a Temporary Lt. , as of August 1, 1951. Mr. Charles Estsinger' s complaint of the condition of the curbs and sidewalks in Peacock Terrace was taken under advisement. Muier' s Drug Store request for a car space in front of said store on Main Street to display a car that they are giving away was rejected. Mr. Jason Hol1ar' s complaint of cars parking too long in the two hour area on South 8th Street, from S. "A" to S. "B" Streets was referred to the Police Department for investigation. The complaint of. cars parking on North 6th Street near. Washington Street on the sidewalks was referred to the City .Engineer to investigate and report back to the Board his findings. A letter concerning the heavy truck traffic over the Whitewater Blvd. as presented by Councilman Law was referred to the City Engineer,for recommendations® The Board authorized the Street Commissioner to purchase 100 "One-Way" signs to replace the present ones on North and South "A" Streets. The Performance Bond in the stun of $18, 850 for the installation of the new traffic signals was approved by the Board.. :F ._. A Petition signed by residents in the area of South 13th and "01B Streets was presented requesting the construction of a "sanitary sever" , between South 13th and 14th Streets, from South "M" to South "0" Streets. This petition was referred to the City Engineer to prepare plans and specification and a Declaratory Resolution. The Board met with representatives of the Richmond Water Works, Tuesday July 10th, to dicuss the Fluoridation of the Richmond water supply. The Board met this day with the Richmond Dental Assn. , and Dr. Smiley of the State Dental Assn, to discuss the Fluridation of Richmond water supply. No action was taken on the question of Fluridation of city water. 00 The Board approved the Wayne County T.B. Assn. of parking a mobile chest X-Ray unit at 7th and Main Streets, during July 31 to and including August 4, 1951. Mr. W. Lathrop and Mr. J. Behnen were present to discuss the rental of the Market House. No action was taken as this was taken under advisemen' The Board allowed the claims in the amount of .$4, 735.87.
