HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-06-1951 11:45- OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY 6, 1951. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said -City Friday, July 6, 1951, at the hour of 8:00 olclock A.M. (CST) . Mr.. Coleman presiding with the following member being present: Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with, Mr. Ross, City Engineer, was given a hearty vote of thanks from= this C,D Board for his services rendered in the past. Mr. Ross has taken over full charge of the Disposal Plant as of July 1, 1951 and will be re- placed by a new City Engineer.. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the resign- ation of Orvilee L. Goens from the Fire Dept. as of July 30, 1951 and be placed on the pension as of August 15s 1951. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the appoint- ment of Donald R. Tibbot as temporary fireman as of July 1, 1951, On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the advance- ment of Harold Personette from temporary fire , to that of regular fireman as of July 1, 1951, The Fire Chief presented a letter from the Wright-Patterson Air . Force Base, Dayton, Ohio, expressing their sincere appreciation to all bodies for their excellent co-operation which was extended during the recent airplane crehes in Richmond and New Castle areas. The request of the Chief of Police to have the north side of N. "A" Street, from N. 3rd to N. 4th Streets restricted from Parking of cars was taken under advisement. The Board approved the I.H. C. request to cut the curb on the N.W. corner of N. 15th and 'IEf° Streets for driveway to a garage. Sam Jaffe Company was awarded the contract to furnish coal for the City Hall and the Kendall Coal Company the contract to furnish coal for the other departments of the City. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of 027, 464. 96. There being no furtheb business presented, on motion made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
