The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City Friday, April 27, 1951, at-the hour of 9:00 •o° clock A.M. Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members- being. present: Mr® Ross and Mr. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The request of the International Harvester Company of constructing four saw- ttothed loading docks on The ,west side of North 13th Street, between North "E1 Street and the Penna. R.R. was taken under advisement. The request of. said ; Comapny of building an overhead bridge across North 13th Street, between 43 North HE" and the Penna. R.R. was approved, provided said Comapny prepares ,, a^ plans and snecfications and present the same to the City Engineer for his 7 approval. • The Board approved the City 5f Richmond purchasing the lots that were approves by the Common Council for sub-station sites, provided the deeds and titles are alright. The Chief of Police approved the placement of some type of traffic controls at the intersection of North 12th and G -Streets. The City Engineer was ordered to investigate what the cost would be to purchase and install an over-head traffic light at said intersection. No definite action was taken on the request for a traffic light at the II intersection of North 16th and "E" Streets. • On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the advancement of Harry Hengstler from the rank of a regular fireman to that of a Captain in charge of the Fire Alarm System. - The City Engineer presented the final report of the estimate of the cost of the work done by the W.L. Magaw Comapny, for the construction of the concrete alley betwee S.W. 10th and S.W. llth Streets, from S.W. "A" Street - to the first alley north of and parallel with National Road. The total cost of work done was $2, 927. 60. The City Engineer recommended that the alley be accepted, The Board accepted the work done oh the alley. The Board adopted the preliminary assessment roll as prespared by tie City Engineer and oredered the Clerk to prepare the advertising for a public hearing on the assessment roll for Improvement Resolution No. 935-1950. The Board allowed the request to cut the curb as regyested by the Cox Grocery on Northwest 5th Street. . The Board allowed the claims in the amount of 10,016. 97.
