OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
IISAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, APRIL 6, 1951.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City
Friday, April la, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. Mr. Coleman
presiding with the following member being present: Mr. Ross. Mr.
Haworth being absent. The following business was had, to—wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Board authorized the Clerk to notify Mr. G. Zervakos, owner of the
x Chop House building to clean up the sidewalk on the west side of said
building.
t Fire Chief Williams reported that Mr. Mike Winandy had donated an
outboard motor for the new life saving boat. The Clerk was ordered
to write a letter of thanks to Mr. Winandy f or this motor.
The following was presented by the Chief of Police:

To Board of Works.
II . Gentlemen':
I, George I. Bell, being a .member of the Richmond
Police Department and also a member of the U. S. Naval Reserve. Having
been notified by this branch of the Armed Services to report for
duty April 17, 1951. I am asking this Board for 'a leave of absence
This leavd of absence to start April 17, 1951 and
continue until I am released from the Naval Service due to ending
of the present emergency.

The Board unanimously approved the above request.
The Board approved the recommendation of the Chief of Police, that
Robert Smith toake over the duties of Court Bailiff as of April 1,
1951.
Street Comm. Burlison reported work had been started on the patching
ing' of the. streets.
The Board approged the Weights and Measures Inspector of attending
the State Convention of Inspectors to be held in the City of Gary,
Indiana, April 23, 24 and 25.
IIThe Board allowed the claims in the amount of $19,545. 23.
There being no further business presented, the meeting adjourned.
