HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-09-1951 72 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 1951. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind- iana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, February 9, 1951, at the hour of 91:00 o' clock A.M. Mr. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Ross and Haworth; The following business was had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Board approved the Street Commissioner of peplacing a damaged door on the west side of the City Garage with a new one. The Mayor reported that he was going to contact the Penna. R.R. officials about the excessive blocking of crossings in the city. Mr. Ross moved that the contract between thec City and Carl Thomp- son be cancelled as of May 1, 1951. This motion was seconded by Mr. Haworth and on voi-e vote was unanimously carried. This in- volves the installing and maintaining of trash containers in the business area. Theā€¢ Clerk was ordered to notify the Chairman of the March of Dimes eamnaign to remove the shelter house from the sidewalk near 8th and Main Streets. The Board granted permission to the Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross to place collars on the light poles in the business area during the period of February 24, 1951 to and in- cluding March 19, 1951. The collars are to be removed when the campaign is over. The Agreement between the State Highway Commission and the City of Richmond, Indiana, for the installation of traffic lights on Main Street was taken under advisement. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of S18, 306.57. There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. Chairman erk. +
