HomeMy Public PortalAbout02-02-1951 71 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND,INDIANA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY .2, 1951. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, February 2, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Ross. Mr. Haworth being absent. The fol- lowing business was had, to-wit.: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Walter Baldwin appeared before the Board with a petition signed by residents on Ratliff Street requesting the installation of a street light at the end of the 1200 block on Ridge Street. This r,Mpetition was ordered filed with the Light Plant Committee for their recommendations. JO The Board approved the Clerk of preparing thepublication for receivingbids for Cam, PP P Pam'� g a new Street Roller for the Street Department. The clerk was authorized to write a letter of thanks to the State Highway Comm- ission for. the splendid work done of removing snow from the State Highways within the City Limits. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved the bid of the Wil- loughby Chevrolet Company bids to supply the Police Department with two cars per specifications quoted. Mr. Shoemaker, Water Works Supt., and Mr. J.C. Crenshaw, Engineer, appeared before the Board for discussion of the comp7.iint of low-water pressure in some sections of the City. Mr. Shoemaker had made tests in various areas of the city and tests do show a pressure drop. This is due to the different elevations in the city. A chart was produced showing the pressure supplied during a two hour period of the Jaffe fire. The pressure shown was 70 lbs. If the Fire Dept. continues the practise of hooking on a pumper on all fires east of 20th Street, no danger of volume needed is in view. The Water Works are seeking new s ourb®sof supply for water in the city. - The Board u4nnimously adopted Declaratory Resolution #3-1951, to vacate alleys and a street as regested by the Fire Proof Door Company of Richmond, Indiana. The Clerk was ordered to prepare the proper publication for a public hearing on said Declaratory Resolution. The Board allowed the claims in the amount of $4,836.55.
