OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, JAN-
UARY 19, 1951.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, January 19, 1951, at the hour of 9:00 o' clock A.M. Mr. H. G.
Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. W.E.
Ross. Mr. C.M. Haworth being absent. The following business was had,
to-wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Board authorized the purchase of street markers. gor installation
on Northwest °D° Street, from Northwest 9th to Northwest llth Street.
The Fire Chief brought to the attention of the Board, the Senate Bill
#41, that is in the State Legislation. This bill amends an act passed
in 1945, regulating the duty of firemenn and number of hours that they
shall work consecutively, to effect such members of fire departments
in any city having a regular organized fire department. This bill if
passed would effect the City of Richmond. There would haveto be an
additional men hired and the extra cost to the city would be about
$18,000.00. A paper is being circulated in the Richmond Fire Depart-
ments getting the consensus of opinion on the proposed bill. No
action was taken by the Board.
A letter was received in form of a petition from the. Fire Proof Door
Company, requesting the vacation of Northweeic Fourth Street to Rail-
road, the alley to North of Lots #12,#13 and #14, and alley- to South
of Lots #30 to #36 inclusive, and alley to the West of Lots #14 to
#20, inclusive, all in William J. Griffin' s Addition to the City of
Richmond, Indiana. This was referred to the City Engineer for check-
ing and recommendations.
The Board allowed the claims in the amount of 14 , 764.60.
There being no further business presented, on motion made, seconded
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
