OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, NOVEMBER 24, 1950.

The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmomd, Ind-
• Tana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said
City, Friday, November 2.4, 1950, at 9:00 o' clock a.m. Mr. Coleman
presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Ross and
Mr. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, no-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were dispensed with.
The Chief of Police presented the following to the Board:
`" November 24 1950
To Board of Works:
On November 15th and 17th, Officer Donald Moelk reported to the police
desk that he would not be on duty due to illness. This excuse proved
false. Therefore I ask this Board to suspend Officer Donald Moelk
for ten (10) days without pay. This suspension to begin November 18th
and ending November 27, 1950.

Mr. Haworth moved the recommendation of the Chief be accepted, sec-
onded by Rosss and on voice vote was carried.
On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved the
appointment of Myron L. Simpson as probationary patrolman as of
December 1, 1950.
Mr. Ross moved the Street Department be given authorization to pur-
chase one (1) 3" Foamite Water Pump with one (1) section of loft
and one (1) section of 20 ft of suction hose, seconded by Haworth
and on voice vote was carried.
The Board approved the Fire Chief and one member of the Fire Depart-
ment of going to East Chicago, Indiana, November 29th & 30th to
study the new Fire Alarm installation in said City.
The Board approved the bid of the C.& S. Towers, 1103 8th Street,
Columbus, Indiana bid of $200.00 to paint the Police Radio Tower.
This price includes cost of paint and materials. This company to
furnish a certificate of insurance before starting the job.
The Board approved the installation of four (4) incadescent street
lights as submitted by the Gen. . Manager of the Light Plant, in
Claer View Drive Addition. The Clerk to notify the Light Plant of
this action.
The Board approved the following curb cuts: 714 North 8th Street,
514 South L Street and 824 South J Street.
The Claims in the amount of $22, 195.15 were allowed.

There being a hazard to the No. 2 Hose House, located on North
8th Street, of traffic blocking trucks making fire runs, the
Board approved the Fire Chief making a study of what could be •
recommended to eliminate this condition.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made,
seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned.
