OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY , OCT. 20, 1950.
II The Board of public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind-
iana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall, Friday
October 20, 1950, at the hour of 9:00. o' clock a.m ( cst) . H.G. Cole-
man presiding with the following members being present: W.E. Ross
and C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings ti,,ere had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. _Bolms, representing the Jr. Chamber of Commerce of Richmond,
appeared before the Board requesting permission to drop phamphiets
ZNfrom an- airplane over the City, Nov. 1, 1950. The phamplets to
advertise the "Canidates Carnival". This was taken under advise-
,�` met by the Board.

�-� The Board approved the Clerk of preparing the proper publication
to receive sealed proposals for a 750-GPM, triple aombination
fire truck for the Fire Department.
On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved
the advancement of T. Lines and A. Rathbickler from probation-
ary patrolmen to regular patrolmen.
The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property
is affected by the following described public improvement.
I.R. No. 940-1950, For the improvement of the alley between South
13th Street and South loth Street, from South "F" Street to South
"G" Street, by construction of a concrete roadway the full width
of said alley.
After hearing all persons interested who appeared, and being fully
advised in the premises, the board decides that the benifits to
property liable to be assessed for said improvements are equal
to the estimated cost of the same as reported by the Civil City
Engineer, and thereupon takes final action on sated Resolution, the
same being being confirmed without modification.
The Board meets to hear all persons interested or whose property
is affected by the following Declaratory Resolution No. 7-1950,
to vacate that part of South Sixth Street, extending from the
South line of South "N" Street to the North line of South "0"
Street, No remonstrances were filed or presented against proposed
vacation, thereupon being fully advised in the matter, the board
takes final action on said resolution, confirming the same.
The Board approved the purchase of an Air Hammer for the Street
Dept. out of the "Parking Meter" Fund.
II The City Engineer advised the Board that work on repairinf North "E"
Street, from North 8th Street to North 16th Street, and North "A"
Street from North 15th Street to North 16th Street had been com-
pleted.
The Board approved the request to cut the curb at 217 So. 22nd
Street for a private drive-way.

A petition was received from the Wayne County Chapter Of Property
Owners, remonstrating the building of anew Elementary School on
the. South 10th Street site. This petition was received and ordered
filed.
The Chief of Police recommended that the four corners of South 7th
and "B" Street, be painted on the curbs to prohibit parking of
cars one more car length. The Board approved the recommendation.
The Street Dept. was ordered to paint the cmrb, on the south side
of South "E" Street, east from South 5th Street.
The Board allowed the claims. in the amount of $18, 388.63.
There being no further business presented, om motion made seconddd
and carried, the meeting adjourned.
