The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind- iana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall, Friday September 22, 1950, at 8:00 o'clock a.rn. (cst) . Mr. H. G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Ross and Mr. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the minutes of the previnus meeting were dispensed with. Reverend Wyatt appeared before the Board requesting Permission to usea loud speaker inside of a tent near the intersection of South 9th & "Q" Streets during Church services. The Board granted per- mission to use the speaker as requested provided the noise is toned down. The Board meets at the hour of 9:00 o' clock a.m. (cdst) to receive and open sealed proposals for the improvement of sidewalks and curbs on Northwest "A" Street from Easthaven Avenue trb West Corp- oration Line as provided for in Improvement Resolution No.938- 1950. The following bids were received: Daugherty & Rowe Const, Co. , Lawrenceburg, Indiana 1262 Lin. Ft. 4' wide sidewalk ©$2.00 S2,524.00 1262 Lin. Ft. Curb and Gutter C 2.00 P2,524.00 Totals S5,048.00 Certified Check in the amount of S130.00 W.L. Magaw: City of Richmond, Indiana 1262 Lin. Ft. of sidewalk ©$2.00 $2,524.00 1262 Lin. Ft. of curb ©$2.00 $2,524.00 Totals $5,048.00 Certified Cheek in the amount of $150.00 The estimate of the City Civil Engineer: $5,048.00. O/ijmotion by Ross, seconded by Haworth and unanimously carried the bid of the W.L. Magaw was accepted. The Board meets atthe hour• of 9:00 o' clock a.m. ( cdst) to receive and open sealed proposals for the improvement of the sidewalk and curb on the west aide of Green Street, from Northwest "J" Street to Northwest "L" Street as provided for in Improvement Resolution No. 939-1950. No bids were received to do the work, 3_3 • The Board meets at the hour of 9:00 o' clock p.m. (cdst) to receive sealed bids to improve the alley between Peacock Road and N.W. B ST, from Northwest loth Street to Northwest llth Street as provided for in improvement Resolution No. 937-190. The following bid was re- ceived and opened: . Daugherty & Rowe Const. , Co. _ Excavation 125 Cu. yds © $1. 00 $ 125.00 Concrete pavement 417 Cu. yds ® $3.50 $1, 459. 50 Total $l,56? .50 Nti Certified Check in the sum of $100.00 The City Civil Engineer' s Estimate $1,584.5.0 The Board withheld awarding the bid on advise of the Erity Engineer for further check into the grade lines of said alley. The Board approved the recommendation of the Chief of Police to extend No Parking on the North side of South E Street from South 10th Street to South .16th Street, and the North side of South C Street from South 5th Street to South 6th Street. Fire Chief Williams complained of someone dumping trash in the area of North 24th Street which has been cleaned up, and dumping being prohibited. A plan is to be worked out with the Police Dept. to patrol this area and prosecute anyone found dumping in this area. The Board approved the request of the Community Chest Campaign Director of placing collars around the light poles in the business area during the campaign, with the understanding that these collars will be removed when the said campaign is aver.
