BOARD OF PTBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
RICHMOND, INDIANA, JULY, 29, 1950.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in --regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City,
Friday, July 29, 1950, at the hour of 8:00 A.M. (cst) . Mr. H. G. Coleman
presiding with the following members being presnt: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross
and Mr. Clifford M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion made, seconded and carriedgi the minutes of the previous meet-
ing were dispensed with. -
On recommendation of the Fire Chief, W.E. Burke was advanced to reg-
ular fireman. Mr. Burlte having served his probationary period.

On recommendation of the Chief of Police] the Board appointed Lewis
E. Doran as probationary patrolman as of August 1, 1950.
The Board approved the Street Department of painting all . the private
drivrays yellow on the curbs between Peacock Road and Main Street on
Northwest 13th Street. Complaints have been received by residents of
said area of the baseball fans blocking said driveways.
The Board approved the Engineering Department and Street Department
of continuing the sewer in Ravina Park area for drainage, from South
34th Street to Henly Road.
The Board authorized the City Attorney to prepare am?.0rdinance to
eliminate the planting of trees between the sidewalk and curb in
the City of Richmond. It was recommended that the trees be planted
5 feet back of the right-away line in the future.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of S26,004.33.
There being no further business presented, on motion made, seconded and
carried, the meeting adjourned
The Board adopted Improvement Resolution No. 937-1950, to improve the
Alley between Peacock Road and Northwest JBu Street, from Northwest 10th
Street to Northwest llth Street by construction of a concrete roadway
the full width of said Alley. Hearing date set for August 18, 1950 at
10:00 A.M. (cdst) . -
