HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-26-1950 q r5 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, MAY, 26,1950. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session, Friday, May 26, 1950, at 8:00 o° clock A.M. I/ (CST) in its office in the City Hall in said City. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. W.E. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion made, seconded and carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Haworth moved the adoption of the contract of the Smith & Johnson Inc. , Indianapolis, Indiana for the construction of the new bridge to replace the Doran Bridge, in the sum of Section I, S169, 4.07. 89, Section II $54.1, 690. 65, Section III S187, 955.60. Mr. Ross seconded the motion and on voice vote, the motion was carried unanimoulsy. The Citys ° bids were on Sections I and II. Other bids were as follows: King, Danville, Indiana: Section I $150, 213.15 Section II S617, 789.93 Section III $185, 859.15 Maxon Construction Co. , Dayton, Ohio Section I S205, 145. 39 Section II S536,543. 73 Section III S196, 085.60 L.B. Stranberge & Son Company, Inc. , Chicago Illinois: Section L $232,190. 28 Section II $666, 664. 84 Section III $278, 705. 4.8 The Engineers_b Estimate Section I $199,000.00 Section II $554, 000. 00 Section LII $217,000. 00 The Board approved the curb cut at 1322 North "F" Street. On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved the suspension of Clarence Trotter, Detective, from May 23rd to June 21st, 1950 without pay and both dates inclusive. The charges were that of excessive drinking and arguing with patrons where it was necessary for the bar-tender to ask Trotter to set down in a local Tavern at 12:30 A.M. , May 23, 1950. The Board took under advisement of the request of the Crosley Corp. asking the City to aid in making some changes on the Williamsburg Pike for parking facilities at said plant. The petition signed by property owners on Bridge Avenue, requesting the construction of sidewalks and curbs on Bridge Avenues from the Whitewater Blvd to the bridge over the West Fork of the Whitewater River was referred to the City Engineering Dept. 476 The Board allowed claims in the amount of $4,9650 41.
