HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-19-1950 474 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA FRIDAY, MAY 19, 1950 The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Ind- - iana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, May 19, 1950, at 8:00 o' clock a.m. (cst) . Mr. H. G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Messrs W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: • On motion made, seconded and carried the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Board approved the Chief of Police contacting the business agent of the Carnival that is in the City and request that said Carnival remove the route signs from the telephone poles in the city. The Clerk was authorized to notify the I,Jight Plant to proceed with the installation of the traffic .lihts at the intersection of North 6th and "A" Streets. Mr. Ben Dueker informed the Board that the responisibilty of main- taining the Industrial side tracks that cross Washington Avenue and also North 6th Street was a responsibilty of the owners of the Gaar-Scott buildings. Mr. Marlow Kluter is chairman of the committee that is responsible for the upkeep of said tracks. The Board authorized the Clerk to inform Mr. Kluter of the rough con- dition of these tracks and that immediate attentio) be given for repairs. On recommendation of the Mayor, the Board approved the City Attor- ney of preparing an ordinance to amend the "Parking Meter"Ordinance to include the west half of the Market House lot for parking meters. The Board rejected all the proposals that were received for the purchase of a new truck for the Street Department. The Board deem- ed it advisable to teadvertise for a new truck that could be used for heavier duty. A petition signed by property owners requesting a "Sahitary Sewer" on South 13th & 14th Streets, from South "J" Street to South "L" Street was referred to the Sanitary District for their study and recommendations. The Petition signed by residents on Newmans Hill requesting hard surface roads, adequate street lighting and fire protection was taken under advisement.
