The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in reg- ular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, March 24+, 1950, at 9:00 a.m. Mr. H.G. golemna presiding with the following members being present: Mr. Wm. E. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The request of Mr. Thorton, business manager of the Richmond Tigers, to drop "rubber" One Dollar bills over the City from an airplane to advertise the open • ing day for the base ball team was taken under advisement. A petition was received from Mr. and Mrs J.O. Cox, owners of grocery store on the southwest corner of Peacock Road and West 5th Streets, requesting the permission to remove trees from between the sidewalk and curb on the south side of Peacock Road west of N.W. 5th Street to the first alley, the same consisting of 5 trees. The petition also asked for authority to replace the present curb on the south side of Peacock Road as lying west os sidewalk on west side of Northwest 5th St. , to first alley west of said street, with factory type curb. This intent is to provide a parking lot for customers of the store. The Board referred this to the Engineering Dept. to check and recommend to the Board at a later date. Mr. Adams filed a report of the past weeks bus runs to the Crosley and schools. The report was filed with the City Clerk. A petition was received from property owners requesting the construction of a concrete alley from N.W. 10th Street to N.W. llth Street, between Peacock Road and N.W. "C" Street. This petition was received and referred to the Engineering Dept. ,_for plans, specifications and estimates. A petition was received from property owners requesting the construction of a concrete alley from South E Street to South F Street, between South ljth and 14th Streets. This petition was received and referred to the Engineering Dept. for plans, speci- fications and estimates. An estimate of the cost of changing the traffic signals from amber to red for fire rd.ns would be in the amount of approximately $S50.00. This report was submitted by Mr. R. Rees of the M.E.L.& P.P. The Board refferred the possibilty of just makeng a change of the amber lens to red lens to cut down the costs to the Police Dept. There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried, the meeting adjourned. The claims in the amount of $ // 2?2, /0? _were allowed.
