RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1950.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall in said City,-Friday, February 24, 1950, at
9:00 A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr.
W.E. -Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following proceeedings were had, to-wt:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the previous
meeting were dispensed with. -
Councilman Russell complaint of the condition of South 5th Street, from South L
Street to South Q Street was referred to the Street Dept.
Councilman Myer' s complaint of the condition of the alley betwen North 3 Street and
the Penna R.R. , from North lath Street to North 19th Street was referred to the
Street Dept.
Councilman Russell' s petition for fire protection on South 15th and 16th Streets, from
South L Street to South N Streets was referred to the Fire Dept and City Engineer for
their study and recommendations.
Mr. Haworth moved that the recommendation of the Fire Chief for the suspending of
Harvey Noble, fireman for a period of thirty days as of February 21-, 1950, from the
Fire Dept, for conduct unbecoming to a fireman. This motion was seconded by Mr.
Ross and on voice vote was carried unanimously.
The General report for Insurance for the City was referred to the City Engineer and
Fir Chief to study. -
\ Mr. Ross moved that as of March 1, 1950, all Utilities of the City would be required
\}!.,\' to take out permits from the City Engineers Office before work of making a ditch in
the street, alleys and sidewalks. This motion was seconded by Mr. Haworth and on voice
vote was carried unanimously. The Clerk was instructed to notify all the Utilities
of this action.
Pursuant to advertiesment in the Richmond-Pallidium, newspaper, the Board met at the
hour of 10:00 a.m. to receive and open sealed proposals for the purchase of a new car
for the Police Dept. The Clerk presented the proofs of publication and on motion duly
made, seconded and carried the proofs were ordered f led.
The following proposals were received and opened:

On motion duly made, seconded and carried the above proposals were referred
to the Police Dept., for tabulations and recommendations.
On recommendation of the City Engineer and the Street Comm. , the Board approved
the following proposals for Street Materials for the City:

The Board allowed claims in the amount of $S,036.72.
There being no further business presented, on motion duly made, seconded and carried
unanimously, the meeting adjourned.
