OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY,

JANUARY 13, 1950.
The Board of Public' Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular
session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, January 13, 1950, at 9:00
o'clock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr.
W.E. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth. the following proceedings were hda, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimouly; the-minutes of the previous
meeting were disposed wAth.

The Board did not approve the request of the Gasetria Service Station located at West
1st and National Road of installing a loud speaker during their grand opening of said
station.
On recommendation of the Street Commissioner, the Board approve the purchase of six
heavy rain coats for the Street Department.
On recommendatiopjof the Street Commissioner, the Board approved the purchase of steel
posts for the various signs within the City that need installation. -
The Board ordered the Street Commissioner to paint a "yellow line" in the center of
North 19#h Street bridge.
Chief of Police, L. Rohe, brought to the attention of the Board, the condition of
the guard railing along Williamsburg Pike. This was referred tb the City Engineer and
Street Commissioner.
Chief of Police, L. Rohe brought to the attention of the Board, the immediadte need of
widening Williamsburg Pkke from the Crosley Plant to Sheridan Street. Mr. Ross expressed
that he would investigate this matter.
The Board ordered the Clerk to contact Mr. Klu±er of the F.& N. Lawmower Company and
request that he submit a rough sketch of the plan of installing an Hydraulic Lift neen
the entrance of said Factory.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication for Declaratory Resolution No. 6, 1949. On
motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the proofs of publications were
ordered filed.
The Board met at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A.M. , to receive and consider any remonstrance
that had been filed on Declaratory Resolution No. 6, 1949. Mr. Coleman, President, stated
that the Board was now ready to receive and hear remonstrances from persons interested in
or affected by such proceeding. There being no remonstranes filed and no person appeared
objecting to such proceeding, Declaratory Resolution No. 6, 1949 was unanimoulsy con-
firmed by the Board.
The Clerk presented proofs of publication for Declaratory Resolution No.S,, ;949.
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimoulsy the proofs of publication were
ordered filed. -
The Board met at the hour of 10:00 O'clock A2M. , to receive and consider any remon-
strances that had been filed on Declaratory esolution No. S, 1949. Mr. Coleman,
President, stated that the Board was now ready to receive and hear any remonstrances
from persons interested in or affected by such proceedings. There being no remon-
strances filed and no person appearing to object to such proceedings, Declaratory •
Resolution No. 8, 1949 was unanimoulsy confirmed by the Board.

The lessor of the Market House, Mr. Aenehen, provided a liability insurance policy
that was satisfactory to the Board. The contract for the Market House for the year
1950 was signed by the Board and Mr. Benehen. •
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $ g2 M /8

power distributer for the Street Department. The Clerk was ordered to prepare

THIS AGREEI iT -made-and entered into on this 13 day of-Jantihr- �_-1-9-.5j0;7-b- aTid-be-
tween,the City of Richmond, Indiana, hereinafter called the "City" and Dan E. Pierce,
Clarence 'Eo" -Gruber Walter "M: Beain and Tino J. Poggiani, Partners, doing business
under the firm name and style of Pierce & Gruber, Structural Engineers,- Indianapolis,
Indiana•hereinafter called the "Engineers" and which agreement is supplemental to the
agreement betwee the above mentioned parties dated September 9, 1948.
WITNESS THAT: .
WHEREAS, the City is proposing to construct the west grade separation (Section I)
and the east grade separation (Section III) to the Twentieth Century Bridge, which
bridge is replacing the present Doran Bridge; and
WHEREAS, the City desires the Engineers to furnish resident supervision for the
above mentioned construction and which supervision is not covered in the Agrrement .
dated September 9, 1948; and
WHEREAS, the Engineers are qualified and prepared- to preform the additional
services required by the City:
NOW THEREFORE, it is agreed.by and between the parties hereto, that the City
shall and does employ the Engineers to perform the resident supervision specified
herein and agrees to pay for such services the amount hereinafter stated.
The resident supervision of the Engineers under this contract shall be as follows:
1. Completely stake out the work' for alignment, grade and elevations so that the
. Contractor or Contractors may proceed with and complete the construction.
2. Inspect all materials delivered on the sites and inspect the placing of-the
materials.
3. Insl)ect the work of the Contract or Contractors to see if the work is being
prepared according to plans.
4. Keep a complete record of the work as far as materials received, and work
completed and as commonly prepared by the Clerk,-of-the-Work.
5. Prepare monthly estimates of the work completed so that the City may pay the
Contar ctor or Contractors.
6. Assume full responsibilty that the work performed is in accordance to plans
and specifications.
In full satisfaction for the services of the Engineers above described the City
agrees to pay the Engineers a sum of money equal to two and one-quarter (24% percent
of the actual cost of construction of the aforementioned work, not including land, right-
of-way, property acquired or engineering cost, payable in monthly installments in pvoport6
ion to the work completed the previous month.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have caused this agreement to be signed by
