The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, November 25, 19)+9,. at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being presents Mr. W.E. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth.- The following pro- ceedings were had, to-wit: On Motion duly Tade,seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board approved the installation of an 611 water main from West llth and Main Street to West 12th and Main Street, to serve as fire protection to the new Armory Building. The Clerk to notify the Water Works of this action. On recommendation of the Poliee Chief, the Board approved the advancement of Hollis Lowe from that. of a probationary patrolman to that of a regular patrol- man as of Novembbr 21, 1949. . The Board approved the Engineering Dept. of preparing specification for stop signs for the streets of the City. The advertisement to be prepared when the specifications are prepared. Pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond Pallidium newspaper, the Board met at the hour of 10:00 o'clock A.M. to receive and open sealed proposals for a new 750 G.P.M. motorized fire truck for the ®ity Fire Dept. The proofs of publications were ordered filed. The following bids were received and opened: GENERAL FIRE TRUCK COMPANY, DETROIT, MICHIGAN; L) Custom General Fire Truck, complete Model 75-C with extras per specifications attached $16,995.00 If 240 H.P. engine is desired in place of 200 H.P. used above $17,240.00 MAXIM MOTOR COMPANY, MIDDLE130ROUGH MASSACHUSETTS. (1) Model No. 2357 Maxim Custom-Built triple combination 750 G.P.M. motorized fire appratus, with pump and accessories as per the attached specifications. . . .$18,895..92 or alternate bid (1) Model No. 14+1 Maxim Custom-Built triple combination 750- . G.P.M. motorized fire apparatus, with pump and accessories as per attached specifications $16,795.92 MACH INTERNATIONAL MOTOR TRUCK COMPANY, INDIANAPOLIS, INDIANA. (1) Mach Type g5-750 G.P.M. Centrifugal type combination pumper, Hose car, and Booster apparatus including all steel three man enclosed cab and extra equipment listed on pages 33 and 33A of the Mack Intl Motor Truck Corp. proposal and specifications attached. See page 33B of the Mach Intl Motor Truck Corp. proposal and specifications for the list of exceptions taken to the city of Richmond, Indiana specifications, F.O.B. Richmond, Indiana. . .$16,931.)5 The above proposals were taken under advisement by the Board and including the Fire Chief and Roy Harding as a committee to study and their recommendations be 409 received for futher action. On motion made by Mr. Ross and seconded by Mr, Haworth and carried unanimously the bid of the Maxim Motor Company was accepted. A petition signed by Millard H.--Whitehead and Walter Imhoff, owners_of real estate, abutting on the twelve-foot (12,00) foot wide public,..walkway immediately �1nort1 of_.-Lo_t_s.-Nos.-.1.,2-o3,k,.5-..-_and,_C__in Marchartan Addition, between North 29th and 30th Street;- respectfv.11y petition for the passage of a resolution prtbviding for the vacation of said Walkway. This was referred to the Engineering Dept. The Board approved the request of the Veteran's of Forgien Wars of staging a parade, Sunday, April 30, 1930. A petition for the installation of a street light lighting along N.W. 6th Street from Pearl 6treet to Peacock Road. This petition was referred to the Light Plant Committee for their study and recommendations to -±he Board. The Engineering Department returned the petition for the vacation of a walkway on North 29th and 30th Street with the following Resolution: DECLARATORY RESOLUTION NO. 5, 1949. Resolved; by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, in the State of Indiana, that it is desired and deemed necessary to vacate the twelve (12.001) foot wide walkway as platted in Marcharton Addition and located north of and abutting Lots Nos. 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 in said Addition, from North 29th to North 30th Streets, in the City of Richmond, County of Wayne, and State of Indiana, which sidewalk proposed to be vacated is more particularly discribed as follows, to-wit; Beginning at the Northwest Corner of Lot No. 6 in Marcharton Addition to the west line of North 30th Street, thence north along the west line of North 30th Street, Twelve (12.001) feet, thence west, parallel with the north line of said Lots numbers 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 to the east line of North 29th Street, thence south along the east line of florth 29th Street, Twelve (12.001) feet to the place of beginning. - _ All as shown by a plat of such proposed vacation now on file in the office of the Department of Public Works and Safety of said City. the property which may be injuriously or beinifically affected in said City of ichmond by said pro- posed vacation is known and described as the walkway herein proposed to be va- cated and the lots abutting on the south sides thereof, owned by Millard White- head, the north-half of Lots numbers 1,2 and 3, Walter J. Imhoff, the north- , half of Lots numbers 4,5 and 6. On motion ;lade by Mr. Ross and seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously, the Board adopted the above resolution as of this date. The Clerk to prepare the proper advertising for a public hearing on said resolution, Decmebr 16th, 1949, at 10:00 A.M. On motion duly made,seconded and carried unanimously the Board adjourned.
