HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-04-1949 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 4+, 1949. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular dession in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, Novemeber 4, `194+9, at 9:00 ooclock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding withethe,.following members being present: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross and Mr. Clifford M. -Haworth.' The followin proceedings 111 were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimoulsy, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. On recommendation of the Fire Chief, the Board authorized the clerk to prepare the publications to receive sealed proposals for a 750 Gal. triple combination motorized fire truck for the City of Richmond, Indiana, and to replace the present truck at #3 Hose House. Said proposals to be received Friday, November 25, 1949, at 10:00 A.M. On motion made, seconded and carried unanimously, the Board will meet in regular session, Thursday, November 10,1949. Councilman Law presented a petition signed by 17 residents of the area of N.W 17th Strret, requesting a light be set at the end of the sidewalk near '106 N.W. 17th Street. This petition was referred to the Light Plant Committee for Their consider- ation. - Councilman Law presented a petition signed 41 resident property owners DngSouttnIa Street between South: 13th and 23rd Streets, requesting the-City surface said street with a 11Black Top". This was taken under advisement by the Board. The complaint of the Acme Towel Serivice of using the alley in the rear of 421 West Main Street for parking was referred to the Police Dept. A petition signed by 15 property owners, requesting a concrete alley between S.W. 10th St. and S.W. llth Street, north of and parallel with National Road was referred to the Engineering Dept. to prepare plans, estimates and specifications. A petition signed by 10 property owners, requesting a concrete sidewalk the full length of Green Street on the west side of said street, from N.W. J St. to N.W. L St„was refered to the Engineering Dept. , for plans, estimates and specifications. The following curb cute were approved: 91S W. Main St. , 500 S. 13th St. The complaint of the Wayne Mull, Inc. , West 1st & Main Street, of dumping oil into a manhole in rear of said location was referred to the Fire Chief to investigate. The Board met with the Committee of appraisers forvthe proprty on the Doran Bridge project for dicussion. Mr. P. Riley reported that the committee is progressing very well. '/ The Board allowed claims in the sum of . 3, O.86.Se The Bid of the W.L. Magaw Co. was accepted for Imp. Res. #933-1949.
