The Board of Public ,Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, August 5, 1949, at 8:00 o'clock AM (C.S.T. ). Mr H.G. Coleman presiding with -the following members being present: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross -and. Mr. Clifford M. Haworth. The Following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. - Mrs. Eva Keller appeared before the Board in regards to -what action had been taken by this Board on the complaint of the Junk Yard on North 17th St. Mrs. Keller ;was advised that the Board still had the matter under advisement. On recommendation of Mr. /iidgeway; the Board approved the removal of trees at 429 South 7th St., 114 North 4th Street, S.W. corner of So. 7th & E St, and one on the S.E. corner of South 12th & A Streets. The Board directed. the Clerk to write Mr. Joesph Hill and letter expressing thanks to the Hill Co., for the use of the tank truck for spraying DDT in the alleys. • The request of the Board of Trustees of the First Baptist Church to hold a Revival. meeting in a tent on a lot at South 16th & A Streets was taken underadvisement and referred to the Fire Chief to investigate the type of tent that test() be used. The Board approved the Devils Den Board of using North A Street for a square dance, Tuesday, Aug. 9th. _ • On motion made by Mr. Haworth and seconded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously, the Board-adopted the following Resolution: RESOLUTION PROVIDING FOR HEARING ON PLANS, SPECIFICATIONS AND FESTIMATES FOR THE GRADE SEPARATION PROJECT ON NORTH D STREET. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Works and Safety finds that in response to the rest.1 olution adopted by this Board on May 20, 1949, The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company has filed with this Board plans, specifications, complete and in particular, covering all of the work to be done in connection with the grade separation project on North D Street, except pavements, sidewalks, drainage and approaches, and an itemized statement of the complete cost of the works covered by the plans and specifications so filed by it, which estimate is in the amount of S133,800.00; and WHEREAS, the Board further finds that in response to the resolution adopted by this Board on May 20, 1949, the City of Richmond has filed with the Board complete plans and specifications, in particular, for all work required to be done in the construction of such project on pavements, sidewalks, drainage-and such work as will be required on that part of the street grade of which is changed by such project, together with an itemized estimate of the complete cost of work covered by the plans and specifications so filed by the City, which estimate is in the amount of $185,672.97; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board mf Public Works, and Safety og the City of Richmond, Indiana, that a hearing on the resolution adopted by this Board on May 20,194+9, and the plans, specifications and esimates filed for said project, be held on the 26th day of August, 1949, at the hour of 9:00 oeclock A.M. (Central Standard Time). 383 fia RESOLVED FURTHER that the Clerk of this. Board be and he is directed to cause notice of such hearing to be published once each week for two weeks in the Richmond Pallidium, the same being the only newspaper published in the City of Richmond, and serve a copy of the same on the local agent of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Compnny and on the President of the Board of Commissioners of the County of Wayne at least ten days prior to the date of said hearing. RESOLVED FURTHER that the notice of said hearing be published and served in the following form; NOTICE OF HEARING ON NORTH D STREET GRADE SEPARATION. NOTICE is hereby given that the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond on May 20, 1949, adopt a resolution directing that The Chesapeake and Ohio Railway Company prepare and file with said. Board plans, specifications and estimates for work -io::be':doneiy�.se,id-.48ailway Company in connection with North D Street on March 25, 1949, also directing the City to file with said Board plans, specification and estimates for that portion of said project to be performed by the City. Plans, specifications and estimates prepared by said Railway Company and City are now on file in the office of the Board of Public Wprks and Safety of the City of Richmond, and may be inspected by all persons interested. The estimated cost of the entire project is $319,)72.97, of which twenty per cent is to be paid by said Railway Company, forty per cent by the City of Richmond, and forty per cent by Wayne County. A public hearing on said resolution adopted by the Board of Public Works and Safety on May 20, 1949, and plans, specifications and estimates filed in re- sponse thereto will be held at the office of the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond in the City Hall in said City at the hour of 9:00 ooclock A.M. (Central Standar.dlTime) on the 26th day of August, 1949. At such hearing said Board will hear all persons interested in or effected by laid im- provement, and will consider any remonstrances filed eitheraintrespect to said resolution of May 20, 1949, or in respect to the plans, specifications and est- imates filed in response thereto. - Dated this 5th day of August, 1949.
