AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA,
FRIDAY, JULY 22nd,1949.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the Pity of Richmond, Indiana, met
in regular session in its.office in the City Building, Friday, July 22nd,
. 1949, at 9:00 A.M. D.S.T. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following
members being present: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross and Clifford M. Haworth. The fol-
lowing proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the
previous meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. E.E. Linburg, Supt. og the Richmond Gas Corporation, appeared before the
Board and requested permission from this Board, for the Gas Company to be
permitted to use the two bridges in Happy Hollow to support a 6" pipe line
across the two forks of the Whitewater River, to serve patrons iSn the North-
west section of the City. Mr. Ross moved and Mr. Haworth seconded that the
Gas Con. be permitted the use of the two bridges as mentioned for this pur-
pose. On toice vote the motion was carried unanimously and so oredred. The
Clerk was oredred to advise the Gas Corp. of this action taken on said re-
vest.
On the recommendation of Mr. Haworth, the Board unanimously approved the re-
cinding of all Imp. Resolution bids and that all said bids be readvertised
for in regular routine.
{ The Board granted permission to the Optimist Club to hold the "Soap Box"
derby on the 21st day of August as requested by said club.
The Board approved the petitions to cut the curb; at 1633 S.W. "B" Street
as requested by Mr. C.A. Gaier, for a private driveway.
On recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board. unanimously approved
the advancement of the following men from the rank of probationary patrol-
: men to that of regular patrolmen as, their six months probationary as of
JJuly 1, 1949: Donald Moelk, Walter Stout and James Saxton.

the Board adopted the following Improvement Resolutions: No 924-1949, for
the construction of a concrete alley between North West B Street and North-
West "C" Street, from NOrthwest gth to Northwest,..-1D.th .St.rae ._No-925Q].9.49,
for the construction of a concrete alley between West Main 'Str'e'et and North,
west "A" Street, from Northwest gth to Northwest 10th Street; No. 926-1949,
.for the .construction_of .ae.conorete alley between Northwest "C" Street and
Feacock?Road, froMq=Northwest g$h Street to Northwest 10th Street; No. 927-
1949, for the construction of a concrete alley between Peacock Road and
Northwest "D" Street, from Northwest "D" Street to Northwest 9th Street;
No. 92g-1949, for the construction of a concrete alley between South 14th
Street and South 15th Street, from South "FP Street to South "G" Street;
No. 929-1949, for the construction of a concrete n.l.leyeeyf :retealley south
and parallel with National Road, from Southwest 1st Street to Southwest
2nd Street; No. 930-1949, for the construction of a "Sanitary Sewer" in
the Maxwell Addition, to serve residence in said area; No. 931-1949, for .
the construction of a "Sanitary Sewer" on South "L" Street, from South .
9th to South 13th Street, to serve residents in the Parry Addition area.

The Clerk of the Board was ordered to prepare -the publication for the
public hearing on said resolutions, and also notify all freeholders
in areas that are affected by said proposed improvements.
On motion duiyomade, seconded and carried unanimously, the Board ad-
journed.
