OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
CITY OP RICHMOND., .INDIANA, .JULY g, 1949.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in the office of the Board in the City Building in said City,
Friday, July 8, 1949, at 8:CO o'clock A.M. C.S.T. Mr. Harold G. Coleman pre-
siding with the following members'being present: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross and Mr.
Clifford M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were dispended with.

Mr Hertzler and Mr. Patton, residents of East Main Street in the city, appeared
before the Board and complained of the practise of the owner of the property
across the street from Glen Miller Park entrance of allowing various people to -
use this ground for stands to sell various merchandise. The Board adtised these
men that it was the action of the Zoning Board that had final say on this site.
The Board approved the request of Mrs. R. Hilbert and Mr. D. Levy of having the
Alley on Southwest 15th Street below National Road opened for traffic.
Street Commissioner, John P. Schneider, reported that his department had apllied
11 city blocks of Hot Mix. The work on the Streets south of National Road were
completed.
The sewer at South 5th & "M" Street was brought to the attention of the St. Comm

Mr. Haworth reported that alley between Northwest 3rd and 4th Street, from
Kinsey to' Pearl Street needed immediate attention. The condition of the street •
on North 30t# .Street was also reported. -
Mr. Ross moved, seconded by Mr: Haworth and carried unanimously that the bid
of the Direct Coal Company to furnish coal for the various departments of the
City be accepted. -
On recommendation of the Mayor, the Board approved the request of the Navy to
show some war equipment on North A Street, -July 10th, llth and 12th.
Pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond Pallidium newspaper, the Board met
at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. C.S.T. for the purpose of receiving sealed pro-
posals for tyre construction of a concretesalley the full width of the alley be-
tween South 14th and South 15th Streets, from South P Street to South G Street.
Two Bids were received and opened: -

Excavating, Grading, Concrete work $2,957.50

DeBolt Concrete No.
Excavating and concrete in place- $3,009.20.
Mr. Ross moved that the bid of Mike Delueio be accepted, second by Mr. Haworth
and carried unanimously and so ordered.
