OFFICE-OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY.OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, JULY
1, 1949.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
regular session in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, July
1, 1949, _at g:00 o'clock A.M. C.S.T. Mr. Harold G. Coleman presiding with the
following members being present: Mr. Wm. Edwin Ross and Clifford M. Haworth.
The following proceedings were had, to-wit:
On motion duly made. seconded and carried unanimously, the minutes of the pre-
vious meeting were dispended with.
On recommendation of Mr. Ross, the Board unanimously approved the request of
Mr. Glenn Powell, to cut the curb at the northwest corner of South gth and "A"
Streets for. a driveway. All work to be done under the supervision of the City
Engineer.
A Street Light petition- signed by 33 residents asking that a street light be
installed on Boyer Street, between N.W. "K10K and N.W. "L" Street. The Board
ordered the petition to be referred to the Light Plq,ny Committee for recommend-
ations.
A petition regnest ,ngrtheCOhstruction of a concrete raodway the full width of
the Allley between South ljth Street and South 14th Street, from South "B1'
Street to South "C" Street was referred to the 4ngineering Dept. for plans and
specifications.
Mr. Ross moved that the resignation of Eugene Shores from the Police Depts be -
accepted, seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously.
Mr. Haworth moved that the Board appoint Clarence W. Foreman as probationary
patrolman of the Police Dept. as recommended by Chief of Police, L. Mae, sec-
onded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously by the Board. The date to be effective
July 1, 1949.
On recommendation of the Fire Chief, Mr. Haworth moved that the Aerial Truck of
the Fire Dept. be sent to Columbus, Ohio for repairs to the ladder hoists, sec-
onded by Mr. Rosssand carried unanimously.
Park, Supt. L. Ridgeway, reported that people in the `city are not obtaining the
proper permits to remove trees. The public should be advised as to the proper
proceedure to obtain said permits. Mr. 1'mslie, Pallidium reporter advised the
Board that he wo ld have ,an article in the newspaper advising the people of the
city of the above action.

On recommendation of Mr. Ross, the Board unanimously approved the bid. of the
Willoughby- hevrolet Company of furnishing two cars to the Police Dept.
No action was taken on the recent coal bids.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $ 01. 96-
On motion duly made. sec nded and carried unanimously,
the Board adjourned.
