The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,met in regular session in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, June 17, 1949, at 8:00 o'clock A.M. (c.s.t.) Mr. Harold G. Coleman presiding with the following membre.being present: Mr. Clifford M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: On motion duly made, seconded and carried unanimously the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Frank Pugh appeared before the Board in behalf of the Church located at the corner of North llth and G Streets, requesting permission to use a loud speaker in the window of said Church during the regular services. The Board did not approve this request. Mr. Harold G. Coleman, City Controller, asked that all heads of the various departments of the city, have their proposed budgets ready for discussion be- fore the Board, Friday, July 1, 1949. Police Chief, L. Rohe, advised the Board that he would attend the Indiana Police Chief Convention, held in South Bend, Indiana, June 21,22,and 23. a Street Commissioner, John V. Schnieder, requested that the Board consider the purchasing of a new gravel truck for the Street Department. The Board refer- red this request to the Street Commissioner and City Engineer to prepare the specifications that are needed and present the same to the Board-for their consideration. The Street Commissioner advised the Board, that works was being done on the streets south of National Road on, Southwres l5th;.16th and 17th Streets as the weather permits. Pursuant to advetising in the Richmond Pallidium-Item newspaper for bids to be received and opened Firday, June 17, 1949, at the hour of 9:00 A.M. c.s.t., for the painting to be done on the City Building, the following bids were opened: H.W. Wiggans and Son $97).G0 Elliott and Witherby $g95•OO Fleagle and Ward $702.00 The above bids were referred to the City Engineer, City Controller and Building Inspector to tabulate and return their recommenadtions to the Board. III Pursuant to the advertisement in the Richmond Pallidium-Item newspaper, the Board met at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. (c.s.t.) to hear all persons interested or whose property is effected by the construction of a concrete roadway the full width of the Alley between South 14th Street and South 15th Street, from South "F" Street to South "G" Street, as provided for in Improvement Resolution No.5, 1949. No remonstrances were filed or presented. The Board unanimously confirmed Improvement Resolution No. 5, 1949, and ordered the Clerk to prepare the proper advertisment to receive sealed proposals, Friday, July gth, 194+9 at the hour of 9:00 o'clock A.M. (c.s.t.), for the construction of said Alley with concrete. 368 Pursuant to advertisement in the Richmond Pallidium-Item newspaper, the Board met at the hour of 9:00 o°clock A.M. Street:Ito Southwest 2nd. Street, as provided for by Improvement Resolution No.6, 1949. A remonstrance was filed and presented containing the following names: Charles W. Ronan, 115 National Road West, and Mr. and Mrs B.H. Schroeder, 213 Southwest and Street. The orginal petition and remonstrance were referred to the City111 Engineer to check the names on both as to freeholders. A petition signed by Fifty-seven persons, requesting the installation of strret light in the center of the block between Northwest L and Northwest M Streets and the installation of a street light the\ centeh of the block between Northwest M Street and Northwest N Street. The Board referred this petition to the Light Plant Committee for their consideration and recommend- ations. - The Board allowed claims in the amoant of $_ On proper motion, seconded and carried unanimously, the Board adjourned.
