The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session, in the office of the. Board in the City Building in said City, Friday, June 10th, 1949, at S:00 o'clock A.M. c.s.t. Mr. Harold G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present: Mr. WM. Edwin Ross and Mr. Clifford M. Haworth. • II/ . On motion duly made seconded and carried unanimously the minutes of the pre- vious meeting were dispensed with. Councilman Eastman appeared before the Board in behalf of the Exchange Ser- vice Club and requested the city to furnish police and fire protection dur- ing the Air Show that is being spons er ed by said club, June 26, 1949. The Board unanimoulsy approved the Police and Fire Dept. of furnishing the nec- essary men to aid in the Air Show. Fire Chief, Williams advised the Board that he was starting his vacation Monday, June 13. The Board authorized the St. Comm. to fill the holes in the alley in the rear of #3 Hose house and cover with Calcium Chloride. The St. Comm. was also ad- vised to consult the Board an all future street repairs before work is started. On motion duly made,aaeconded. and carried unanimously, the Board approved the renewal of the School City contract for the occupancy and use of the Civic Hall as a part of the Senior High School plant, for the year, August 1, 194+9 to July 31, 1 . This to be in accordance with the terms of the orginal con- tract, dated April 3, 1939. The Board unanimously approved the acceptance of a deed title to a parcel of ground at the intersection of Southwest 1st Street and Southwest "G" Street from the School City, when the said deed is prepared for delivery. Permission was granted to owner to cut down a dead tree near 700 West Main St. On motion duly made, second and carried, the Board approved the construction of a cement sidewalk from the north end of McQuire Hall, north to the inter- section of West 1st and Whitewater Blvd on the west side of the Blvd. The sidewalk to be constructed in accordance with the plans and specifications in the Cl'ity Engineer's office. Improvement Res. No.1,1949 was returned to the Board with the following in- formation: There were 39 resident property owners on orginal petition and 16 resident property owners on the remonstrance. The petition showed a percetage of 59%, and the remonstrance 41%. The Board unanimously confirmed Improvement Res. No.1, 1949. The Board approved the Clerk of preparing the advertisment to receive sealed proposals for the construction of concrete roadways the width of the alleys as mentioned in Imprvements Reeolations #1,#2,#3, +. The bids to be received Friday, June 24, 1949, at 9:00 o'clock A.M. c.s.t. The owner was granted permission to cut the curb at 633 South 15th Street for a driveway. The curb cuts as requested by Mr,. Rhoades and Mr. Swisher were not approved until the parking meters are set on North 7th Street. 366 The Board allowed claims in the sum of $23,914.04.
