The Board of Public Works and Safety of the CilTy of Richmond, Indiana, met . in regular session .in the office .of the Board in the :City Hall in said build- ing, Friday, May 6th, 1949 at 9:00 A.M. D.S.T. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding • with the following members being present: Mr. W.E: Ross and MR. - C.M. Haworth. . the following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Guy Alexander, .representing the Optimist Club, appeared before the . Board requesting that said Board close of West Main Street near Tenth Street on some Sunday afeternoon for a "Soap Box" Derby.. The .Board requested that some other site be found as it was not advisable to close said street on Sunday. • - The Board approved the request of the Mayor, to add an extra man on the . Street Department and also the purchase.of a line 'marker machine to mark the ' parking spaces in the parking meter area. The present marks are almost elim- inated. - - • • The Board expressed that they were willing to go .alang with the proposed - installation of the extension of sidewalk from the McQ,uire Hall on White • - water Blvd to the intersection of West 1st and National Road. The plans and specifications to be under the supervision of the City Engineer of the City. • Fire Chief, William reported that' the "Fire School" would be held at ;�3 hose house to familiarize allthe firemen with the new equipment of the Fire Dept. Mr. Williams also stated that he and Mr. Allard and Mr. Wadman were - going to attend the Fire Prevention Bureau at Indianapolis, Indiana next week. Mr: Schnbider.reported that the resurfacing of S.W. 15th, •16th and 17th was in the program this summer and work will be 'start.ed as soon as possible. The Board approved the request of Mrs Harold Haas, 217 Cartwright Drive to cut the curb for a driveway. _ The Board approved the request of Mr. Leland Munson, 420 Lincoln Stree ,to remove a dead tree in front of said address. This tree being inspected by- hir Ridgeway. Mr. Ridgeway recommended that the tree in front of 110 Nort 6th Street • not be removed as it is still alive. • The Board.allawed claims in the sum of l �;..2$ , 90 There being.no further business, Mr. Ross moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously. - Presiders Attest: Secretary , The Board signed he contract with the Manufactures's Appraisal Company for the appraisal of public buildings belonging to the City. •
