OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND,INDIANA, FRIDAY, APRIL
29, 1949.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond,Indiana, met in
regular session in its office in the City Hall'in said City, Friday, April
29th, 194+9 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H.O. Coleman presiding with the following members
being present: Messr. Ross and Haworth. The following proceedings were had,
to-wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with.
Chief of Police, L. Rohe request that a flood light beAnstalled at the inter-
section of West 13th and Main Streets for the protection of traffic police-
men while on duty directing traffic from the base ball park after the night
games. This was referred to the Ingineering Dept. for recommendations.
Mr. Ross reported that DeBolt had been contacted in regards to cleaning the
spillway on North 17th Street. DeBolt will clean out this spillway in the
near future.
Councilman Russell's complaint of the abuttment at the iron bridge in Happy
Hollow was referred to the Street Department Commisiioner.
Councilman Myer's request::of a "stop sign" at the intersection of North 17th
& C Street was referred to Engineering Dept. for recommenadtions. The request
for a traffic signal at the intersection of North 12th & A Street was refer-
red to the Engineering Dept. and Police Dept. for investigation.
Councilman Baldwin's request for a traffic light at the intersection of
Richmond Ave. & West 1st Street was taken under advisement. The Board in-
structed the Clerk to investigate the Ordinances of the city for an Ordinance
prohibiting the escaping of poisonous gases from electric refrigerators.
Councilman Marino's complaint of strag dogs running at large was referred to
the Police Dept. The Board advised the Clerk to notify Mr. Marino that a pet-
ition would have to filed with the Board before action could be taken on the
restrictions of parking of cars in the areas of North and South A Streets.
The Board authorized the Clerk to notify the State Highway Commission of the
condition of the brems of South Ninth Street near the Hibberd School.
A letter received from Mr. Frank Braffett, The Richmond Home Telephone Co.
requesting the Board to take action on the installation of a traffice Sig-
nal at the intersection of Notth 12th and A Streets was orderee filed.
An estimate of the Crabtree-Maule k opporation for the installation of a new
boiler in the City Building was ordered filed.
The Board approved the following transfers of funds: as requested by dif-
ferent departments and the Clerk to prepare an Ordinance for Common Council
consideration: $600.00 from Accl #192 to Acct. +187; $500.00 from Acct. 05-22
to Account #5-180; $400.00 from Acct. #5-22 to Acct. ##S-26; $925.00 from
Acct. #S.D.-21 to Acct. # S.D.-31; $100.00 from Acct. #58 to Acct. #23; $50.00
from Acct. 61 to Acct. #69.

Haworth and carried unanimously.
