HomeMy Public PortalAbout03-18-1949 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF - THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,FRIDAY,MARCH 18,1949. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Riehmond,Indiana,met in regular session in-its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, March 18, 1949 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding, with the following member being present: Mr. W.E.'Ross. The- following business' was had,Tb-Wi.t': The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. Mr. Don Bell appeared before the Board requesting that all future accident claims to City owned vehicles should be reported to the City Controller., The Controller to report the same to the Insuaance Carrier for authori- zation where to have the repairs made. The Board approved that all future accident claims will be reported to the City Controller for authorization where the repairs shall be'made. .The clerk to notify all Department Heads of this action. Chief of Police Rohe requested that the proper action be taken to reduce the speed limit on National Road from Easthaven Ave. to the Earlham Cemetery. The speed limit now is 40 M.P.H.. and should be cut to 30 M.P.H. This' is for the safety of children as well as adults who cross the highway from the res- ideitial. district south of National Road. The Board approved the Clerk of notifying the State Highway Comm. of the re- quest of the Chief of Police. Mr. Coleman brought up the matter of a traffic light being needed at the inter- section of South 5th and G Street. The Clerk was authorized to contact the State Highway Comm. for a survey to be made at this intersection and the placement of a stop light. ChiefeoffPolice, L. Rohe was given permission to go to Washington D.C. with the Mayor, Lester E. Meadows. There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the.Board. On proper 'motion and seconded the Board adjourned. Claims in the amount of $11,158.72 were allowed. Chairman Attest; Secretary.
