The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in its office in the City Hall in said City, Friday, _ February 25, 191+9 at 9:00 A.M. o'clock. Mr, H,G, Coleman presiding with;~ the following members being present: Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following burliness was had, to-wit: 111 The minutes of the previous-meetingwere dispensed. with. Mr. Schneider, St.COmm. reported that the Pearl Street Storm-Sewer had been repaired and also stated that Lincoln Street was under process of repair. Mayor, Lester E. Meadows recommended that any purchase in any department of $50,00 or more, be referred to the Board of Works, in order that, the Con- troller might keep closer in touch with the expenditures. Mr. Haworth moved that the recommendation of the Mayor be approved, seconded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously. The Clerk was authorized to notify all department heads of this action. 04 recommendation of the Chief of Police, the Board approved the appoint- ment of Bert B. Russell, Jr. as probationary patrolman, effective March 1, 1949. • The petition of- the Taggart Taxi Cab Co. , requesting a one car length park- ing zone in front of 1133 Main Street was referred to the Traffic Division to i4vestigate. een A petition containing seven/signatures for walks and curbs on Gardner Street was- referred to the Engineering Dept. • City Controller, H.G.Coleman reported that the City had collected the sum of $911.00 during the past week from the parking meters. • Mayor, Lester E. Meadows brought to the attention of the Board for the need of metal stop signs at the intersection of N.W. 2nd Street and Randolph St. There has been several accidents at said intersection. This matter was re- ferred to the Traffic Division.
