The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office,in.'the City Building in said City, Friday,. Jan- uary 28, 1949 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. Harold G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following pro- ceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Board unanimously approved the request of the Red Cross to place light pole collars in the business district during the Red Cross Fund Campaign Drive d ring the month of March, 1949. A letter was received from the Miller Dairy, satlegng that the sidewalk and driveway at the West First and Main Street store had been repaired as request- - ed by the Board. Chairman, Coleman brought to the attention,ofhall department heads to have the claims in the City Clerkts office not later than Tuesday -before the board meets on Friday. The Board received a petition for installation of street lights on South 2bth Street, East, from-Main for about 500 feet to dead end street. This petition was ordered filed. The Board approved the Clerk to prepare the proper advertising for Two new three (3CD wheel (Serivar) motorcycles complete with heavy duty generators (including vottage control), two red lights on bar across fron of cycle, radio shielding, front safety guard, steering damper, reatrbumper, 5.QOX 16.00 tires, air cleaner and front fender lamp. Trade-in allowance of two (2) 194+5 Harley-Davidson three t3) wheeled motorcycles, for the Police Department. • At 9:30 A.M. , pursuant to notice as published in the Richmond Pallidium, a news- paper, the Board opened bids for one (1) car for the Sanitary Inspector, one (1) car for the Dairy Inspector, one (1) pick-up truck for the Park Department. Bids received for Inspector cars: BROWER MOTOR, INC. 1-1949 Studebaker, 8G Champion, 3 pass. Coupe, heater, seat covers, door covers, frieght . $ 1690.96 Approx. Fed. The Hoard reported that the bids of the Wallar Motors, Inc. was approved by the Board and the clerk to notify the Wallars Motors of this action. The Clerk to return the certified check in the amount of $100.00 to the Brower motors, Inc. All of the above bids were referred to the Park Board and Park Supt. for their recommendations and report back to the Board. 82/1 The Board attithorized tie enforcement of the Parking Meter Ordinance to go into effect as of Monday, January 31, 1949. The Police Department to ar- rest all violaters. John Schnieder, Street Comm. reported that there has been a great deal of trouble involved in the stpppage of the sewer on North loth Street between North A and North C Street. His Dept. is doing all possible to remedy this condition.
