HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-31-1948 316 0 FIUE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIV WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE - - CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY,DECEMBER 31,1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in the office of the Board in the City Building in said City, Friday, December 31, 1948 at 9:0O A.M. Mr. H.G.o Coleman presiding with the fol- lowing members being present. Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings were had, to-wit: The minutes of the Special meeting of December 28th1948.were-read and approved. Mr. John Schnieder recommended that North bth Street from North "D" Street to the Penna Railroad crossing on the east side of said street be restricted to "No Parking" at any time. The Board approved the recommendation of Mr. Schnieder's. Mr. Schnieder also brought to the attention of the Board the condition of the guard rail along the Williamsburg Pike which is deteriorated. This was 'taken under advisment by the Board. The Board approved Mr. Frank erye,Dairy Inspector of attending a Dairy School that is being held at Purdue University the week of January 3,1949.. Mr. Ridgeway,Park Supt. presented a request of residents at 1600 South 7th St. of wanting to cut down 4 elm trees and one cherry tree. The Board disapproved the request. The Board authorized the elerk to prepare the proper advertising for automobiles for the Sanitary Inspector, Dairy Inspector and one 3/4 ton pick-up truck for the Park Dept. These sealed bids to be received January 14th, 1949 at 9:30 A.M. The Board authorized the%.Clerk to write all the major Oil Companies for proposals on gasoline to be used by the various departments of the City. Whereas, on Ahgust 16,1948, the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Ind- iana, acting and serving as a committee in charge of the operation Of the Munici- pal Electric Lighting and Power Plant of Richmond, Indiana, at a regular meeting of said Common Council Committee,did,by motion properly made,seconded and carried, decide, among other things,that the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant pay to the Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) for the year of 1949, and Whereas, the taxing officials otd said Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, in preparing its budget for taxation fot the year 1949 took into consideration the anticipated Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) to be received from the said Municipal Electric Lighting and Perwer Plant in establishing the tax rate for said Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, for the year 1949, and Whereas, on the third day of October,1948, at the Court House in the City of Richmond,Indiana, The State Board of Tax Commissioners of the State of Indiana, by its representative., approved, with minor changes, the budget submitted to it for the year 1949 for the Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, as above referred to and said budget and tax rate for the year 1949 are now in full force and effect, and 4 317 Whereas, it is apparent that the Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant will have surplus funds on hand at the close of this year of 194$ which is not needed for the payment of employees, general running expenses, im- provements, repairs to said plant or debt, in the_ sum of Three Hundred Thous- and Dollars ($300,000.00). NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, in regular meeting assembled, that this Board recommend to the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, and tot is hereby recommended, that it by proper ordinance appropriate and transfer from the surplus funds of said Municipal Electric Lighting and Power Plant on hand at the end of the year 194S, 3ro the General Fund of the Civil City of Richmond, Indiana, the sum of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars ($300,000.00) for the use of said Civil City of.Richmond, and BE FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be delivered to the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana.
