OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY
OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, SPECIAL MEETING, TUESDAY, DEC.2g;19lg:
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in
special session in its office in the City Building in said city, Tuesday, Dec-
ember 2g, 194S at 1:30 P3M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members
._ being present: Messrs. Y .E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings were
had, to-wit:
The minutes of the previuos meeting were dispensed with.
Mr. M.I. Dunn General Supt. of the C.& 0. Railroad, MR. Cole, legal Counsler of
the C.& O., R.P�.Nand Mr John Brubaker, Wayne County Attorney were in attendance at
this meeting`.
Mr. Dunn brought to the attention of the Board for their consideration, the elim-
ination of the crossing watchmen at the C.& 0. R.R. crossing.at North °DH Street.
This abolishing the watchmen to be only for the period that the Doran bridge is
closed to traffic. The C. & 0. R.R. will erect and maintain the proper barricades
that is required to handle the traffic along the west side of the railroad north of
the crossing. It was pointed out by Mr. Dunn that all men that would be effected
by the elimination offthe watchmen would be placed elsewhere in the Division.
The Board took the above under advisement.
The Board approved the contract of Mike Derago and Fred Schneider for the leasing
of the Market House for $900.00 per year for the year 1949.
The Board approved the request of Roland Walls, Engineering Department, of one
months leave of absence,from January 5th to Jan 31, 1949. Mr Walls has been called
by the United States Navy to do a required cruise for this period.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $ / a 442. r-p

There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board, upon
proper motion and second the Board adjourned.
