OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE
CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 10,1948.
The Board of public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in
regular session in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday December
10th, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members
being present: Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following proceedings
were had, to-wit:
The minutes of the previuus meeting were dispensed with.
Councilmen Marino and Myers with Mr. Lawrence, Engineer of the Crosley Corp.,
appeared before the Board reqesting the installation of street lights on the
Williamsburg Pike, from the end of Sheridan Street to the Crosley Plant. This
request was referred to the City Engineer and Light Plant to investigate.
No parking on South "GI Street from South 6th to South 7th Street was approved
by the Board. This restriction was requested by the C.& J. Transfer Co. at an
earlier meeting and recommended by ttrn Traffic Division.
Mr. Ross brought to the attention of the Board the dangerous condition that the
Foot-bridge is in that is located in Happy Hollow on the west fork of the White-
water River. Future study will be made for the abolishment of said bridge for the
safety of pedestrians using this bridge.
The Board approved the erection of 2 signs to be placed in the Market House lot
on South 5th and "A" Street. The signs to read, "No trucks allowed to park on this
lot"by order of the Board of Works. The signs to be placed at the two entrance to
said lot. The Street Dept. Supt. was ordered to install the signs immediately.
The Board approved the request of Mr. Schneider, St. Comm. the authority to
investigate the prices on roller for St. Dept. that is needed.
Mr. Schneider also brought to the attention of the Board the trees on S,W.
13th Street near the National Road. These trees are in the center of the street
and cause a hazard to traffic as well as the roots that are stopping the sewer
by the growth of the roots into the sewer. The removal of these trees was taken
under advisement of the City Engineer and Street Dept.
Mr. Law, Chairman of the committee to stay the "yellow curb", informed the
Board that a delay of the report was made until the enforcement of parking
meters was enforced.
Mr. Law's request of having a center line placed on the Whitewater Blvd. was
received and the Board ordered the Street Dept. to place the center line on said
blvd as the weather permits.
Councilman Marino complaint for a flasher signal near the Crosley Plant was
referred to thh City Engineer.
Councilman Marino complaint of the Penna R.R. car switching at the North 12th
Street crossing was taken under advisement.
Councilman Myers request of a center line on the street in Happy Hollow was
reported done by Mr. Schneider.
Permission was granted to the Stegall-Berhide Funeral Home to cut curb in
front of 222 North 10th to widen prvate drive war.
The request of Dr. Edwin B. Weinstein for a street light on South "E" Street
between South 19th & 20th Streets was referred to the City Engineer and Light
Plant to investigate.

The Board authorized the City Attorney to prepare the publication and con-
tract for the Market House leasing for the year 1949.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $15,492.25.
Upon proper motion ans secndedethe Board adjourned.
