HomeMy Public PortalAbout12-03-1948 310 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, DECEMBER 30 1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Building in said City, Friday, Decem- ber 3rd, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H. G. Coleman presiding with the following mem- bers being present, Messrs. WE.Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following business was had, towit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dt)spOnsed with. The Board rejected the request of property owner at 305 South 14th to cut trees in front of said property. Mr. Ridgeway brought this request to the Board. Mr. Lester Toney presented the following letter to the Board: Whoever It May Concern: This is to notify the City of Richmond that I, Lester Toney, intend and shall terminate my contract with the City of Richmond, February 14th, 1949, and that after said date I will not purchase or accept delivery of the garbage collected by the City of Richmond. Yours truly, (s) Lester Toney. - The Board accepted this notice and ordered the Clerk #o file the same. Several request have been received by the Board requesting the parking re- strictions to be maintained in front of places of business where parking meters have been installed. The Board unanimously appointed a committee headed by Councilman Law to work with a proposed group consisting of Dr. Leon Cox, Mr. E.E. Lindburg, Mr. W.E. Ross and Chieg of Police, L. Rohe. This committee to make a study of the problem of restricting parking in front of budiness places and Dott:or's offices, and report to the Board. Mr. John OtMaley of'hthe C & J Transfer Company, appeared before the Board re- questing "No Parking " signs near the Transfer Co. grounds. This was referred to the Traffic Division to investigate. Mr. W.G. Batt), President of the Salvation Army Board of Richmond, requested that the Board consider the turning on of the Xmas lights at Noon, December 10-h for the Service Clubs of the City. This is the day that the clubs allassist the Salvation Army with the kettles on Main Street. The Board approved the turning on the Xmas lights at noon December 18th. Herman Kutter appeared before the Board and asked permission to black top the alley in the rear of the Roller arena at 16th and Main St. This expense to be paid by the owners of this property. The Board referred this to the City Engineer office to investigate. Permission was granted by the Board and specifications of the Enginnering Dept. to be followed. Street lights were requested at the intersection of South 19th and 20th Street at E Street. This was referred to the Enginnering Dept. and Light Plant. Three petitioners signed for installation of a water line and fire hydrant on S.W. 19th , from National Road to S.W. "C" Street. This was referred to the Fire Chief to investigate and report to the Board. The Board allowed claims in the amount of $614.98. On proper motio B qr adjo ned. CJ Attest: • Chairman Cle . �.
