HomeMy Public PortalAbout11-12-1948 303 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS & SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 12,1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in office of the Board, Friday, November, 12, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. O.M. Haworth presiding with the following members being present: Mr. W.E. Ross®aTlie''folloWing- business was had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with; Mr. H.G. Coleman was unable to attend this meeting due to illness. Lee Ridgeway reported the hazard that speeding cars on the North Drive in the Glen Park was causing. This was referred to the Traffic Division to investgate. Councilman Russell appeared before the Board and presented the following pet- - itions for street lights: A street light to be installed on South C Street be- tween South Seventh and Eight Street at the intersection of the Alley; South ! Street between South 8th and 9th Streets at the intersection of the Alley. These two petitions were referred to the Light plant add the City Engineer to investigate and report their recommendation to the Board. No report was given on the following request for street lights at N. J. UDQ St, North "J10 St., as requested at an earlier meeting of the Board. No report was given on the parking of cars on Washington Ave and the R.R. crossing on the same street as requested at an earlier meeting of the Board, A letter from the Lehr Equipment Sales, Inc. was received and presented. This letter was in regards to the recent installation of two parking meters in front of their store on 6th Street. The Traffic Division investigated this complaint and recommended to the Board that the present meters stay as they are. The Board approved the recommendation of the traffic division and in- structed the Clerk to notify Lehrts of this action, A letter was received from Rev. Everett Atkinson, Pastor of the Church of Nazerne. This letter requested No Parking on North 5th Street from North A Street to Main Street on Sunday. The Clerk was instructed by the Board tb t - inform<-Revs Atkinson that there is not a restricted time on Sundays for parking of cars in this area. The Board approved the petition of Clarence Trine, 632 Peacock Road to cut the curb in front of said address for a driveway. - The Board allowed claims in the sum of $ 073 9!cJ ?, 8'8 - There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board Mr. Ross moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Haworth and arried unanimously by the Board. - )14.4 et'N •ta 1..401-34 Acting Chairman Attest: Clerk of a Board.
