HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-22-1948 298 OFFIUE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICILMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 22, 1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in saidsOity, Friday, October 22, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following members being present;;Messrs W.E. Ross and C,M. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: The Minutes of the previous meeting were dispensed with. The Board approved the Street Department to proceed immediately on the repair of the Streets in the Peacock Terrace Addition. The Board approved the contract of the Western Union Telegraph Company for the purchase of poles in the City for the Fire Department Alarm System. The poles are as follows: Pole #14607-14611, located on north side of North A Street be- tween North 6th and North 4th St. , thence north on east side of North 4th St. , from pole #14612-414619, thence west on south side of alley between North D St. and North A. St. from pole #14620-#14622, end of alley, thence across White Water River on private right-of-way from pole #14624414633, thence pole .#14634 located on east side of North West let St. thence from pole #14635-#14647 lo- cated on south Bide of alley between Randolph and Lincoln St. thence from pole #14649-#14654 located on north side Peacock Road between North West 5th St. and North West 7th Street. This bill of sale aleo includes guy stubs #14619-S located in alley east of North 4th St. and guy stub #14620-S located on esat side of North 4th St. , North of alley. All in the City of Richmond. Total costs $171.00. The Board approved the installation of eight "Pendant Type" Street Lights in the Gardner-Hill.crest Addition as recommended by Mr. Earl Beek, Acting Manager of the M.E.L. & P.P. The request of someone investigating the trouble concerning the peoble who park in the drive-way between the home of Mrs. Dthnie Ward, log South 6th Street, and the Market #ouseq wasrrefferbednto the Police Department to investigate. Mr. Ross advised the Board that a meeting between the Mayor and City Engineer was:-:held With the Pierce & Gruber Associates and State Highway Department rel- ative to the Doran Bridge. No action was reported. The need of a danger signal under the Main Street Bridge on the abuttment on the Whitewater Blvd, as requested by Councilman Myers, was approved and ordered in. The brem on the Williamsburg Pike in front of the Crosley was reported to be fixed by the Street Department. The Board approved the cutting of the curb at 430mSouth 19th St for a private drive-way. The Board allowed claims in the amount of $24;222.77. There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board, Mr. Ross moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously by the Board. Attest: "' Clerk / Chairman
