HomeMy Public PortalAbout10-15-1948 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,F.RIDDY,OCT.15,1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in its office in the City Building of said City, Friday, Oct- ober 15th, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following- mebers being present; Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following busQ iness was had, to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. The Board approved L. Daniels of going to the Duncan Meter Corporation, Chicago Illnois, to attend an instruction course in the maintenance of parking meters. The dates were from October 18th to whatever date that it takes to complete the course. The Board approved the following resignation: Richmond, Indiana October 14,1948 To the Honorable Mayor City of Richmond, Indiana I hereby submit my resination as Street Commissioner,because of personal reasons effective October 15, 1948. A.D. Burkhart. The Board approved the appointment of Don Johnson to be acting Street Commis- sioner until a sucessor is appointed to the position of Street Commissioner. Upon recommendation of Mr.Ridgeway the Board approved chaaing the drainage system at the nor softball diamonds. The curb type to be replaced with that of the flush type sewer inlet. The Board rejected the request of Mr. Ward Dubbs of the Peerless-Wilson Dry Cleaners of the City not erecting parking meters in the front of #11,#13 and +15 North 10th Street. The request of a yellow line on curb along the 60 feet frontage was also refused, Upon recommendation of the Chief of Police the following street light instals. lations were approved: North C Street at the intersection of the alley between North 16th and 17th Streets; North C Street at the intersection of the alley between North 18th and 19th Streets; North A street at the intersection of the alley between North 19th and 20th Street; At the intersection of Northwest K Stteet and Harris Street. Fire Chief Williams reported that the new pumper had passed the Indiana Bureau Rating tests. The Board approved the Fire Chief of purchasing 1.1.4 Western Union Telegraph Co. at a price of $171.00. These poles were to be taken down by the Western Union and not replaced. The fire department had their fire alarm system attached to said poles. The Board was informed that the southwest corner of South 4th and A Streets had been cleared of the brick and sand that stood on the City pboperty. A petition signed by residents in the area. of Rige Street and Northwest M & N Streets requesting a street light on RidgenSLreettbetweSr Mr&NosWas refer- 297 red to the Police Deoartment and City Engineer to investigate and report to the Board. The Board allowed claims in the amount of $2,029.39. There being no further business to be vrought to the attention of the Board, Mr. Boss moved to adjourn, secondede by Mr. Haworth and carried uhanimously by the Board. Attest: Clerk. Chairman.
