OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY
• CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER
17th, 1948.
The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular seesio4 in the .office of the Board in the City Building,
Friday, September 17th, 194+8 at 9:00 o'clock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman pre-
siding with the following members being present; Messrs. W.E.Ross and
C.M. Haworth. The following business was had,to-wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were disp ensed with,
The Board approved the request of Mr, Ramsy McDonald of placing an aer-
ial on th Police tower. City Attorney, Haworth to prepare the contract be-
tween the City and Mr, McDonald.
Mr. Deskin Jones of the Jones and Placke Funeral home appeared before
the Board and presented complaints of Inter-state trucks of parking for
lenghty periods in front of said funeral home, The Board advised Mr. Jones
to contact the State Highway Department for permission to install a re-
stricted parking zone in front of the funeral home.
The Park Board returned the bid of Waller Motors Inc. for the purchase
of an automobile for the Park Department, The Park Board recommended that
the Board purchase the automobile from the Wallers, Inc.
Wallers bid as follows:
1. 194+9 Ford, 6 cylinder $ 1308.90
Less Federal Tax 79,00
$ 1229.90
Accessories-
Seat covers $20.00
Heater 5�+.50
74.50
The following Resolution was returned from the Common Council:
RESOLUTION #4--1948
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RICHNOND, INDIANA, that
the Judge of Wayne Circuit Court of Wayne County, Indiana, be requested to
appoint three disinterested freeholders of said City of Richmond, Indiana,
to appraise the following motor vehicle, the property of the City of Rich-
mond, Indiana:
One Chevrolet two-door coach automobile, used
by the Police Department of the City of Richmond,
Indiana.
With a view of selling the same, aid the Board of Public Works and Safety
be authorized, empowered and directed to make sale thereof at a time and
in a manner which may be most advantageous t6 said Laity of Richmon, and
for not less than the appraised value thereof, as may be determined by the
appraisers appointed by the Judge of said Wayne -Circuit Court of Wayne
County, Indiana.
PASSED by the Common Council of the City of Richmond, Indiana, this 7th
day of September, 1948.

And the Court now appoints Curtis Wickett, Benjamin Berman and Henry E.
Long, each a disinterested freeholder of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
for the purpose of apppaisi#g the property described above, and appraisers
are directed to proceed at once with appraisement.

We the undersigned appraisers appointed by the Wayne County Circuit Court
have viewed and examined the car above .described, and placed the gollowing
value there on: -
Chevrolet 2-door, 1946, Police Department $500.00

Appraisers.
The Board approved the Clerk to prepare the proper advertisment for the
receiving sealed proposals for one li .tweight coach or sedan for the
Police Department of Richmond, Indiana. The bids to be opened at 930 A.M
Friday, October Sth,l94S.
City Controller, Coleman, reported that the stoker for the City Building
had been installed.
The Board approved the City Engineer to write to the Penna R.R. officials
and have them in a Board meeting in the near future to hear the complaints
that have been received.
The Crosley Corp. of Richmond, Indiana, gave the following report on the
movemnet of trains overvthe railroad near said plants

This report to be filed and presented to the R.R. officials.
The Board accepted the resignation of James Saxton from the Police Depart-
ment as of September 27th, 194S.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $$i 45� 1

Mr. Haworth moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Boss and carried unanimously
by-the Board.
