HomeMy Public PortalAbout08-06-1948 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA,FRIDAY,AUGUST 6th,194s. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met ,in regular session in its office, Friday, August 6th,1948 at 9:00 A.M. o°clock A.M. Chairman H.G. Coleman presiding with the following member being present., Messrs. • W;E.Ross and C.M. Hawotth. The following business- was had,to- wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Harbin appeared before the Board requesting a one car restricted parking space in front of the Economy Plumbing establishment on Fort Wayne Ave. This was teferred to the Traffic Division to investigate and report to the Board. • A petition signed by 13 residents in the area of South 9th and Q Streets,wr:e- questing the installation of a fire hydrant at said intersection. Fire Chief L. Williams recommended that the Board approve this request. The Board approved the reqest and ordered- the Clerk to notify the Water Works of this action. The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief to install a water hydrant at National Road and Southwest ljth Streets to give the residents in this area fire protection. The Board ordered the Clerk to notify the Water Works of this action. Mr. Ross moved that the Board accept the Pierce and Gruber, an Engineering Firm of Indianapolis, Indiana, to make a survey of the Doran Bridge as to the advise of repair or replacement of said bridge,. This motion was seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously by the Board. The requst of the Adam H. Bartel Company of placing another bridge across Elm Place between North 9th and 10th Street was referred to the Engineering Dept. to investigate. A eptition signed by 4 residents in the area of- South 13th- and C Streets,re- questing a street light in the rear of Valle School in the alley between South ljth and 14th streets was referred to the Traffic Division to investigate and report. The petition signed by S people requesting that North A Street between North jrd and North 4th Street be restricted to uo parking on either side of said . Street. Chief of Police Rohe was instructed to notify Mr. Mayer and the owner of the Farm Implement Store on Worth A Street to appear before the Board ,Friday for continued discussion on thiM natter. The Board allowed claims in the amount of $ cV) 9,37. 69 _ There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board - „ Mr ross moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr. Haworth and carried unanimously by the Board.
