The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana met in regular session in. the Office of the Board, Friday July 30th, 194E at 9:00 A.M. o'clock. Chairman Coleman presiding with the following members being present; Messrs W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. the following business was had, to-wit: The minubts of the previous meeting were read and approved. Upon the recommendation of the City Engineer, the Board approved the Midwest Casket Co. of erecting a loading platform at Northwest 1st and Penna R.R, with the understanding that if in the future the sidewalk it installed the Co, will remove the platform. The Board authorized the Clerk to notify the Casket Co. of the action of the Board. Upon the recommendation of the City Engineer the Board approved the ,installing of a manhole at 417 North Sth St. as requested by Mr. L.Erbs. Mr. Erbs to con- struct the manhole at his expense and theapprovale.ofethe City Engineer and Build- ing Inspector. The Clerk to notify Mr,Erbs of this action. The Board approved the Clerk of notifying Mr. Fred Smith, 914 South A Street to make provisions to keep the trash and litter from the alley west of said prop- erty. The Board approved Mr. Hardy, Fire Dept. going to Mass. to inspect the new Fire Pumper that is being built by the Maxim Co. and to be delivered to Richmond in Sept. ,1914 . . • The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief to take five members of the. Fire Deot. to Cinn. Ohio to attenda a school for Resitatutor. Upon recommendation of the Chief of Police, L. Rohe, the Board approved the appointment of Henry D. Woods, Jr. as Probationary patrolman as og August 1, 194E. Mr. C. Bozarth, Sanitation Officer, reported to the Board that people in the area of North lath and H Street wore without city water. The Board ordered the Clerk to notify the Water Works to make a survey of this area for the possiblities of obtaining city water in this area. The Board ordered the Clerk to notify Mr. Joseph Polack ghat the Board rec- ommends he install a curb in front of his residence at Northwest N and Ridge Streets instaed of erecting iron posts. Mr Polack complains that the motorists are running upon his front yard when making the turn at said corner. Mr. Haworth, City Attorney, presented and read in full the "Parking Meter . Trial Lease" . This lease was signed by the members of tie Board and the Mayor. The Board authorized the Clerk to return the certified checks to the un- sucessful bidders of the parking meters.
