OFFICE OF THE'BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND
SAFETY OF THE CITY OF RICHMOND, INDINA,
FRIDAY, JULY th, 1918.
' The.Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana,
met in regular session in the office of the Board, Friday, July 9th,191+8
at 9:00 a.m. o'clock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding with the following
members being present, Messrs. W.E. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following
business was had., to-wit:
The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
The Board approved the request of the "Y" Mother's Club of having one
Thursday night (to be announced later) for a play night on North A Street
between 7th & 8th Street. This Street to be blocked off from 7:00 to 10:00
P.M.
Robert Hines, Sec. of the West End Building Ldazi;. appeared before the Board
requesting a one car restricted and limited parking space, in front of the
Loan Building 4+09 Main Street. The Board approved the request of Mr. Hines
and allowed the same as the other banking institutions have on parking.
The Board gave a vote of thanks to the Police Dept, Fire Dept, Park Dept.
and the American Legion on the very efficient manner in which the large crowd
attending the fireworks at the Glen Miller Park on July 5th,1918 was handled.
The Board approved the request of having a "stop sign" installed. at South
6th and "G" Streets. South 6th Street to be the stop street. This was re-
quested by Councilman Russell. .

Chief of Police, L. Rohe recommended that the parking of cars be prohibited
on the East side of Ft. Wayne Ave. The `Erafiic Division has made an invest-
igation and found that the"n®:cparking"on the East side would handle the traf-
fic in a more efficient manner. The Board approved the recommendation of the
Chief of Police.
The Hoard approved the recohmuendation of the Chief of Policeof "no parking"
on the west side of NW 1st Street from Main to Kinsey Street.
Upon recommendation of Chief of Police Rohe, the Board approved that Leland.
Ramey be promoted from probationary patrolman to that of regular patrolman as
of July 16th, 1948.
The Board approved the recommendation of Police Chief Rohe of having the
South side of So. C Street restricted of parking from So. 2nd to So. 8th Street.
Fire Chief Williams reported that the cap on the Tate Cleaners had been remov-
ed and the smoke condition in that area is satisfactory.
The Clerk presented a letter received from Mr Lois E. Ripberger, President
of Richmond Audubon & Nature Club in regards to boys shooting at birds with
rifles and air-riflesin the City. The Board advised the Police Dept. to diso
courage this prabtlee and enforce the Ordinance that was passed June 20,1871.
Pursuant to an advertisment in the Richmond Pallidium, at 9:30 o'clock A.M.
there were four bids received for the installation of a stoker for the City
Building. These four bids were opened and recorded as follows: ,

Replace bridge wall and smokeless boiler sections with regular
intermediate sections, clean and otherwise properly condition
boiler- for safe and-efficient operation $5,135.35
Richmond Stoker Service:
0ne-WINKLER Bin Base- Stoker with extention permitting ample
roe m in front of hopper for cleaning fire and also for built-
hopper in present pit, having capacity of three or more tons
of stoker coal, togetherrwith new controls (present water feeder
and low water cut to be used) Specifications of stoker attached.
We propose to furnish and install this stoker and- bin material and
labor for the amount of------ $1375.00
Controls for the above mentioned stoker are to be Minnapolis-
Honeywell
Stoker is manufactured to be used as a bin base stoker (not a
bin feed) which leaves gear case and meter easily accessable
for oiling or cleaning. Stker is equiped with the famous Winkler
transmission which has no shear pin or clutch, and carries a full
three year guarantee. The above price includes all labor for re-
moving present stoker and complete installation of new stoker and bin.
Engineering Sales and Service:
We have made a survey of your boiler in the City Building and find
that you have a Prox boiler # B 60-s16S. The rating (mfg) on this boiler
is 12500 sq. ft.
We propose to install one Type 0-Auburn Push Model Bin Feed #425 to
500 lbs per hour, having a rating of 12500 sq. ft.
The above equipment can be installed for the sum of -$1611.00

less $50.00 allowance for old stoker
Optional Equipment
One Volumeter $31.50 additional.
The Board accepted the bid of the Mather Bros. Co. and instructed the Clerk
to notify the Mather Bros, Co. of this action of the Board.
The Board allowed claims in the amount of $11.,364.03.
There being no further business to be brought to the attention of the Board,
Mr. Haworth moved to adjourn, seconded by Mr.Ross and carried by the Board.
