The Board og Public Wofks and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board, Fri- day, June l8gh, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. ® 'clock, ®Mr. H.G. Coleman pre- siding and the following member present, Mr. C .M. Haworth. The following business was had, to-wit: - The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mr. Ralph Miller appeared before the Board in behalf of Nor- man Jenkins, owener of the Medical Arts Building on South 8th Street. MT. Miller requested permission to erect a sign at the present "No Parking Zone" in front of said building. This sign to be used for loading and unloading patients only. The Board authorized the request be granted and the Traffic Division to decide on the most appropriate sign for the need. The sign to be , installed at the expense of Mr. Jenkins. Mayor, Leter E. Meadows advised the Board that his office had received numerous complaints of "Junkers" lwaving their carts in alleys and creating a nuisance to other persons dsing the alleys. Th,e. Board authorized Mr. Burkhart to advise the store owners not tolerate the carts being left in the rear of their stores. Mr. Burkhart is also advise the store owners to break up all large crates before disposing of them in the alleys. Mayor, Lester E. Meadows also complimented the Park Department on the way that the Garden Club grounds was prepared for the crown- ing of the Rose Queen, June 17th, 1948. Fire Chief, L. Williams recommended that the north side cof North A Street between Third and Fourth Streets be restricted to No Park- ing at any time. The Board approved the recommendation of the Fire Chief. Fire Chief L. Williams reported that the Tate Cleaners had el- evated their smoke stack on their building. ' The request of the Wayne County Rural Electric Corporation of a restricted and limited parking ares in front of 17 South 10th Street was granted. The Board approved the falemIggrequest to cut curbs; Mrs R.H. . Cox, S.W. corner S.22nd & B St. , and Second National Bank at 27 N. 10th St. Mr. Ross reported that the petition for street lights. on South 8th and 0 Street and between 0 and Q Street was investigated and recommended that the Board does not authorize the installing of .. the street lights. The Board did not authorize the installation of these lights. Mr. Ross reported that he had investigated the petition for street lights on Neuman' s Hill and he does not reccomend the in- stallation of said street lights. The Board did not authorize the installation of the Street lights. 262 A petition for a street light at Starr and C Street was referred to the traffics division for investigation and report back to the Board. A letter was received and read from Mrs V.H . Vogelsong, complain- ing of barking dogs at 337 South 8th Street and 329 South 8th Street. These dogs barking are creating a .nuisance to the residence in this area. This was referred to the Police Department to investigate and report to the Board. Mr. Coleman presented to the Board of complaints from spectators at the soft ball games of scooter bikes and bycycles creating a haz- ard due their racing around and through the crowd in this area. The Board refe'rred this to the Traffic Division to investigate and also warn all violators of the future arrest that will be made. There being no further business to be brought before the Board, upon proper motion and second the Board adjourned after allowing claims in the amount of$ SoS. 89 Chairman Attest," Clerk of oard. / _
