HomeMy Public PortalAbout05-07-1948 249 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC STORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY MAY 7th, 1948. The Board of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, May 7th, 1948 at 9:00 oeclock A.M. Mr. H.G. Coleman presiding and the following members were present Messrs. E.W. Ross and C.M. Haworth. The following business was had to-wit: The minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Mrs Knott appeared before the Board with a complaint of a nieghbor next door, 425 Richmond Ave. , having a willow tree that has been causing a sewer stoppage to her property. Mr. Haworth advised Mrs. Knott that this was a civil matter and advised her to contact her attorney for advise. Upon recomendation of Mr. Ross the Board refused to permit Mr. Martinis request of placing a lunch wagon upon the Cityis proprty near the Bell-Wal- lace and Gear Works. Lee Ridgeway, Park Supt. , reported that he had investigated trees at 238 So. 8th St. , 1908 No. E. St. , 16th and So. A. St., and 25 No. 12th St. Mr. Ridgeway advised the Board that the trees in front of 1908 No. E St. and. 25 No. 12th St. should be cut out. The Board authorised Mr. Ridgeway to not- ify the named proprty owners of the action of the Board, thatof granting permission to cut the trees. Upon the recommendation of the Chief of Police, L. Rohe, that Ray B. Kinder,Jr. be added to the police department as of May 16th, 1948, Mr. Haworth moved that the recomendation be accepted, seconded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously by the Board. ,/auArvid The Board approved the letter that Mr. BROMQ had written to Mr. M.W. Mapp, Supt. of the Columbus Division of the Penna. R.R. in regards to the deisel oil conditions at the refueling station at the Depot. The petition of the property owners on Newmans Hill requesting proper lighting, street improvements and fire protection was referred to the City Engineer and Street Dept. Supt. to investigate and report to the Board. Chief of Police L. Rohe recommended that the Pallidium-Item be grated one more car length to the north of their present two car restricted park- ing area. Mr. Haworth moved that the recommendation of the Police Chief be granted, secohded by Mr. Ross and so ordered. The Board authorized Mr. Haworth to prepare and present to the Board the advertising for the Market House stalls. The present contracts for the entire East-end of the Market House expire June 7th, 1948. Mr. Ross brought to the attention of the Board the splendid cooperation the Disposal Plant received from the J.H. Hill Co,Richmond, in aiding the plant in securing flanges and pipes that were very badly needed. All Department Heads were urged to give considerable attention to the preparing of the 1949 Budget. It was recommended that if any Dept.Heads should be in need of transfFrtng funds in the near future, they should C Comtinued. 750 prepare their needs and report to the Board. The City Attorney will prepare an Ordinance to blanket all at the same time. The Board allowed claims in the amount of 7D, 9-/ There being no further business to be brought before the Board, Mr. Haworth moved the Board adjourn, seconded by Mr. Ross and approved unan- imously by the Board.
