HomeMy Public PortalAbout04-23-1948 OFFICE OF THE BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY, CITY OF RICHMOND, INDIANA, FRIDAY, APRIL,23,1948. • The Board. of Public Works and Safety of the City of Richmond, Indiana, met in regular session in the office of the Board Friday, April 23, 1948 at 9:00 A.M. o'clock. Messrs H.G. Coleman presiding and. the following .11 - memebers present, Mr. Ross and Mr. C.M. Haworth. The following business - was had, to-wit: 111 The minutes of the previous meeting were read and ap-oroved. Fire Chief, L. Williams, told the Board that the Tate Cleaners had not complied with his order of raising the smoke stack. The Board approved Mr. Haworth of writing a letter to bothAhe owner and occupant stating that the reccomendation of the Fire Chief will have to 'be complied with. Claude Bozarth, Sanitary Inspector, reported that the owner of the lot at 1642 South 6th Street had not complied with the order of filling in the abandoned basement. Mr. Haworth was given authority by the Board to write Mr. Huddleston,own er of lot, to give this request his immediate attention. The Board approved the Chief of Police installing "Stop-watch -speed. en- - forcement zones" in the city. The State Highway to paint the zones and_ furn ;sh.charts for this purpose. The Board instructed the Clerk to notify the property owners on North Ninth Street of the condition of the curbs in front of their lots. -The curbs are in bad. shape in front -of Knode Music Store and along the side of the Tivoli Building. Fire Chief L. Williams was given authority to contact the Insurance Co. in Wards to the damage done at 43 Hose house by wind storm. - The Board approved of,Mr. Coleman supervising the repairs that are ned- essary to the City Hall building. - The Clerk was instructed to write Hozafels & Sons in regards to waste paper from their establishment blowing onto the Davis Park property. The Bond. that Mike Derago furnished on Liabilty Insurance for Market House was approved and ordered filed. The Clerk was instructed to contact Mr. Arthur Thomas, Contractor, and advise him 'to move temporary building 'back off the curb at East Main & 30th Street. - There being no further business the Board allowed claims in the amount of $ /3,377, ci7 . Mr. Haworth presented the agreement between the City and the Animal Wel- fare league which wasapproved by the Board and signed and ordered filed. Mr. Haworth moved that the Board adjourned, seconded by Mr. Ross and carried unanimously. ,21 yy Attests ycf .,`
